Are you happy with your Medical Professional?

So many responded in a negative manner to a post about Medicare's Wellness Exam that I'm curious how you feel about your individual PCP, PA, or Medical Provider? Please elaborate!

Re: Are you happy with your Medical Professional?

I have only signed up for Medicare Part A because I was required to.  DH is still employed and carries insurance for us through his work.  I've had more medical stuff this year than usual.  As things stand right now, I am very happy with all the doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, aids, techs I've dealt with.  I'm especially confident and fond of my regular NP and PCP.  I've known both of them for many years. When I was hospitalized in February for my operation, it was in a brand new hospital that had just opened the week prior.  For all I know, I could have been the first patient in that room/bed.  LOL. My only complaint about the hospital was the food offerings not being low carb friendly.

The rules and regulations regarding  that during a " Wellness Exam " the patient & Doctor cannot address any new problems or changes  because they will not cover the billing. The patient is being left with having to make another appointment to address any new problems.  To me this is Insurance interfering  with the patient / Doctor relationship  and may  cause delays in care  for new health issue which may increase one's  chance of mortality.

Example may be an elderly  male  patient who  has new shortness of breath and  episodic chest pain who had planned to  have the Doctor evaluate him  during his  Medicare  check up but because he is told of the of the billing  he  does not  tell his Doctor  during the visit  of  these new issues . I have known this to happen and  a patient  had  a  heart attack.

Several of my medical professionals recently retired, left the area, or were " let go." I had a great team. Now, I am not overly fond of a few doctors.

I trust and respect my PCP.  I am glad that he is considerably younger than I am so that he might be my doctor until the end of my life.

I've never had any issues discussing all my concerns during my wellness exam. Maybe because I had the same PCP before I went on Medicare.

I had an issue with my wrist, she immediately ordered X-rays. She gives me my annual flu shot.

She also exams my breasts and does a pelvic if I'm having a Pap smear.
Never had to make a separate appointment.

@skatting44  I agree with you 100%! The wellness visit is a scam to me...just to get the Medicare payment. You cannot address any new issues.....unless you pay for another visit. So, what does the wellness visit entail? They make you fill out forms....and ask you if you need refills on any medications. There was no vitals checked when I had a wellness visit....it was a waste of gas and time. My doctor left after the practice; he was sick of having to cram so many patients in a day. He went concierge. I've gone to him for almost 36 years. Now I'm contemplating following him to the concierge practice.

@deeva  Wow, you're lucky! You must not live in Connecticut! Here, it's in and out....and you're billed for the wellness visit. You have it all under one roof. 👍🏻
