Re: Are there any flu outbreaks in your area?

My best friend canceled our holiday lunch and gift exchange this week due to illness.   She tested positive for Influenza A.   My work friends still say the hospital is seeing very few cases of flu in this area of southern WV.

Knock wood - I haven’t been sick, and no one I know has been sick yet either, flu, cold or anything.  I’m sockin’ down the Airborne daily.  I expect people to start getting sick between Xmas and NY. I think there is flu everywhere, but epidemic/more than usual, or ERs/Urgent Care full? No, not in my neck of the woods. But I no longer live in an urban area.

Re: Are there any flu outbreaks in your area?

I'm really worried this year. I was so sick last Feb with the flu, and I got a shot too

Now, they are saying this year, flu season is going to be very hard ,and they don't think the shot is going to work well

I got a senior shot ,and am keeping my fingers crossed. I don't want a repeat of last  year

I was sick with “something” that started Oct 1, right after I got my vaccinations. What I had was NOT caused by the vaccines... I am guessing that I was already ill?

My arm swelled up on side with Pneumovax and was so sore in EVERY JOINT that I couldn’t use my arm.

i couldn’t walk (103* fever) couldn’t breathe well, slept continually (to the point that I didn’t know I had fever). DH had to prompt me to take my temperature. WBC turned out to be EXTREMELY ELEVATED = 27,500!

Coughed and felt crummy until 12/1 ... no diagnosis!

@LTT1

Haven't been on too much lately, so just saw your entry.  My word you were ill!!!

Given that your arm did swell up on the injected side and you experience soreness in every joint in that extremity, I'd say you had a very unusual reaction to the vaccine.

Honestly, I don't recall if the Pneumovax is attenuated or not.  If attenuated, there are let's say "half live" viruses in the solution injected into the arm. ( My arm was a bit swollen and hurt for a little over a week, which is quite long for me.)

So sorry you had to go through this.  Have no idea whether it was related to the 2 month virus I had or not.  Mine was so weird.  Never had orange urine before (bilirubin in urine, but blood clear of it).  Just one indicator.  Like yours, no one could figure it out.  However!!!  I had just had my flu shot about 36 hours prior to all of this starting.

I check the map for flu cases sometimes. Does anyone else do this? Sometimes, I am just curious. When my illness struck on 10/3/2017, there were very few cases of flu/colds being reported. So, ok, I got it first.

‘Now, one can see that the most cases being reported are in the heaviest population sites.

This is my newest app, “Sickweather.”

It is so very inconsiderate when those who are ill share their germs!

I'm worried, too.  I'm still recovering from the flu I had a few weeks ago, I am definitely not at my strongest.

I had to wait to take the flu shot and I only got it two weeks ago.  It needs to be three weeks for it to develop.  I couldn't take the strong one, either, I had to go for the quad shot.

@Moonchilde

A report the other night, ABC nightly news, said the Bay Area is being hit hardest with the flu, all surrounding counties included.

It's like an axe hanging over our heads.

Yes, I check the map every so often.  As I mentioned, supposedly the SF area is being hit hardest.

Hardest to what or where was not explained.
