I finally was able to get my flu shot yesterday, cleared by the doctor.
It usually takes about three weeks to kick in, which means I'm glad I haven't heard of any outbreaks in the SF Bay Area.
How about where others live?

I'm very distressed to hear that the vaccine this year mighrt be only 10% effective, based on results coming out of Australia. They're still recommending getting the shot, however........ Fingers crossed and double and triple crossed. It's predicted to be a very bad flu. At least that's what I'm hearing on the radio here in the metro DC area. Beyond that, I haven't heard of any local outbreaks yet.

Hi @Krimpette
I was very distressed about it, too. I recently had the type B flu and it was awful. I don't feel that strong yet, so the one that's coming, Type A, is scary. I got the quad shot.

Yes, there have been numerous cases in New Mexico. Took my dog to the vet last Friday. When she came in the exam room, she had on a big heavy parka. This is hardly needed when temps are 68°. I commented on it and she said she was sick. I really didn't appreciate the exposure.

Oh, no...hadn't heard about the flu expected to be worse. That one year about 10 years ago, they quickly developed a second vaccine and gave it to everyone free.

Hope all is well with you.

No known flu cases in my area of southern WV as yet. The majority of illness for those I know, is upper respiratory, related to allergy and asthma issues that trigger COPD flares. Several students in my daughters classroom have had bad coughs and even early stage bronchitis.
Flu usually hits this area in January and February.

We don't see much viruses here in our town until after Christmas when the big influx of snowbirds occurs. They are ill before they get here and once it starts around all the elders here it spreads like wild.I surely wish they would stay home until they are no longer sick instead of bringing it down here with them.
