I don't feel anxious about the procedure- in fact, quite looking forward to getting relief from this pressure and uncomfortable feelings. well, NOW I feel anxious, since I am worried about NOT getting the procedure if I can't get my BP down.
I am not on any medication at all. The only thing I take is Ibuprofen and that pretty much is one day a month.
So you're scheduled for a hysterectomy? You should probably get into your GP and get the blood pressure addressed before surgery. I don't want to scare you, but you don't want to have a stroke on the table! Even if you go on meds temporarily, you can work on getting off of them later.
Since you're healthy in all other areas, you should do really well. I'm overweight, but thought it was a breeze. My doctor did the DaVinci assisted method. I had to be in her office for a post-op check 2 or 3 days after the fact and she was impressed with my progress. But remember, even if you feel great, don't start going back to your normal habits until your surgeon releases you. It's hard, but you have to follow the recovery plan and limit/avoid certain things. It's OK to let hubby to spoil you.
Good luck.
Thanks JLF! Actually I am 40 so I opted for the Acessa procedure for now instead of a hysterectomy. Basically they use an ultra sound machine wand, insert it into the tumor then zap it. The idea is over time it shrinks although I don't believe it ever goes away completely. I still have the option of the hysterectomy if this doesn't work or doesn't shrink it enough but I wanted to try a less invasive option first. Actually I think my next option would be to remove the tumor (not the one where they obliterate it before removal) and keep everything else in place but that is all depending on if everything else still looks normal.
I know I have to get my BP down to normal limits before the surgery and have to find a new GP because my previous one left. I don't think I will be able to get in to see a new one before my surgery! I have a call into the doctor that is going to do the surgery to see what we are going to do but I am sure we are going to postpone it until I get my BP down and then, like you said, after the surgery and I am in the clear, try to work on ways to lower it without meds.
