And will the symptoms go away once all the work is done and glue is dry? 

I started to get dizzy, ear popping  when they started to lay new carpet at work three weeks ago .   By the time they got  to my area last wendsday it was dredful. I ended up going to urgent care two days after they did my section with head supper presurized, shortness of breath, possible  ear infection(  ear full of fluid the dr saw)  I  was given antibiotics, prednisone, Ventolin HFA. 

When I go back to work tomorrow it should be all done and over with  so I am hoping no more issues

Doctor thinks its seasonal allergies  that it could not be the carpet glue fumes.  I think it is or a combo of both and once the carpeting is done and glue is dry Ill be better.

@kcladyz  I would tend to agree with your doctor on this.  Sometimes a strong smell like that can give me a headache and even difficulty breathing (I have mild asthma), but it would not cause all the congestion that you are describing.  It may be a coincidence that you got seasonal allergies, or even a cold, at the same time you were reacting to the toxic smell of the glue.

Whatever you do, don't go back there thinking that you are going to have a reaction, because, then you will.   Try to have an open mind about it and see how it goes.  Good luck to you!

That carpet glue gives off some pretty powerful fumes and air circulation in office buildings is poor. I would be suprised if the intense reaction you suffered came from "seasonal allergies."

Keep a diary of your symptoms for the next month. And do follow up with another doctor.

DH and I built a tall cat tree that we started covering with discarded carpet from a carpet store. Bad idea. A few days into it we were itching and coughing from all the dried glue flaking off the back of the used carpet. That glue is nasty.

I am  not on workmans comp. I get 3 days off a  week on a 4x10  shift so technically i only called in for 1 day  to get 4 days off

Are you sure it's the new carpet and not something like mold under the old carpet that was disturbed?

I agree that you should file a worker's comp claim immediately in case this continues with the new carpet.  It's better to file up front than to try to get them to back date it to the first incident.

@kcladyz  I had a similar experience  when they replaced the carpeting at my job.  I am not bothered by anything normally and the glue made me feel dizzy and awful for days.  Several employees did not come in to work at all as they were offered extremely affected by the glue.  It is SO TOXIC.  The new  carpet also puts off toxic fumes which causes another whole issue.   It is not all in your head.  It is a real reaction to the new carpet and 

glue.

Carpet fumes do that to me. So open your windows and leave them open, and leave the house if possible or just go spend the day outside. I know it hot everywhere but I think glue and combo of the carpet can be very toxic and could possibly kill people. I was very sick but fortunately it was summer when I experienced it.

Years ago I had arm swelling after lying down on the new carpet in a bedroom. I was treated with Prednisone. Don't think it was the glue, but the carpet.
