Re: Anyone else getting calls from doctor's offices?

I get them from my Medicare Advantage Plan.  They want me to schedule a home visit to see if my home is safe.  I block those calls.  Then they send me emails and cards in the mail.

Re: Anyone else getting calls from doctor's offices?

Sounds like a scam call wanting you to change to an Advantage plan.  I got a call several months ago and was asked the same questions but it just didnt sound legit to me.  I ended the call and told them I would be glad to supply the info, but send me a letter. No matter how hard you try, our info can be acsessed in many diffrent ways.  It happenned to my elderly SIL.  By the end of the conversation she was enrolled in another insurance plan and not one of her doctors were participating in the plan.  What a nightmareto straigten out.  Be aware and dont give any info over the phone.  You really dont know who they are!!

@kaydee50   I also have a UHC Advantage Plan and routinely got those nuisance calls.

I called their CS and told them that ALL MY HEALTHCARE advice is between me and my PCP and asked to be removed from their "calling list".

I have never received another call!

I also have a UH Advantage plan, which I am very happy with.

A couple times this year I've received calls from the local "coordinator" of approvals and referrals, asking if I'd like to schedule a "Wellness Visit".

If I understood them correctly, they want to come to my home and "assess my situation".

I'm not interested in that.

Re: Anyone else getting calls from doctor's offices?

I go every 6 months for blood tests the Dr wants & I'm fine with that but now my medical provider wants more visits even offering to provide a mobile unit for my convenience when I said no. For a basic visit to my Primary Dr Medicare pays $650.00 so the cost to Medicare for a mobile unit I don't need would be a ridiculous waste of money. I'm in good health & only want to go to the Dr when I'm sick but that's not an option anymore.

I go to a local "walk-in" if I'm REALLY in need of help.    I have found that "regular" doctors in my neighborhood want to do all kinds of "tests" to FIND SOMETHING WRONG.

I once had to get a "doctor's note" to get sick pay for a really nasty cold.   The doc wanted to do a BRAIN MRI to see if I had a TUMOR.   Yeah sure...more billing to the ins company......

I got a call from my doctor wanting me to move my appointment from November to September. I asked why and she had no answer. I told her I'm not interested.

The only time my doctor calls me is when there's bad news. They never call when there's good news.

@Carmie

Reading these replies I'm amazed.  I'm on original Medicare with a Supplement, and I get none of these calls.  Zero.  The only time I get a call from a doctor's office is occasionally to reschedule the date or time of an appointment that I already have. Glad that I don't have to deal with this.

Re: Anyone else getting calls from doctor's offices?

the only time my doctor calls me is if I send him a message to him on MyHealth chart portal.   All messages regarding reminder appointments come by text,   I have UHC Medicare Advantage and they never call me.  If there is a change coming, my UHC agent calls me directly abd her nane comes up on my phone

I can understand them wanting to rule things out, especially if you haven't had comprehensive blood work done for a few years .... but that does seem extreme.
