Re: Anyone else get up really early and not because of a job?

This morning, I had no husband (he's away on business) and the dog let me sleep until 7.50am. In fact, I woke up before he did. The cat has 24/7 access to dry kibble, so she's never woken me in the morning.

I sleep in earplugs, they totally shut out the noise of traffic which would otherwise wake me up when people start going to work.

I don't know how anyone can wake up in the dark (without an alarm clock). My circadian rhythm wants nothing to do with being awake in the dark.

I'm on my kitty's schedule. She wakes me up, looking for attention, anywhere from 4:30-5:30 without fail. It's a very rare day off, that I can "sleep in"

Re: Anyone else get up really early and not because of a job?

I'm an early bird. In the summer I'm up with the light, and in the darker months, I'm up between 5 and 6. I like to have a lot of my regular work in by 9 am. I like the peace and quiet of the early morning as well. I'm a stay at home mom, and my kid is out the door by 6 am most mornings, so it's me, the dog, and the cats, while hubby (who works second shift) is still sleeping. My favorite time of day, always has been.

I worked graveyard for many years, and still am on the same schedule. I sleep from about 2 to 9 pm........and I eat dinner at 6 in the morning.

Another one here that gets up early. 6 a.m. is late for me. I also don't sleep well. I do enjoy the mornings though. Have my coffee, etc. and go for a walk. Evenings are lonely so I go to bed early. My dog fits into my schedule just fine.

Re: Anyone else get up really early and not because of a job?

In my 20's I was a night person, but didn't have any trouble getting up for work (ah, the 20's ...) and over the years I evolved into a morning person, getting up at 3:30am-ish, and joked that my brain was on east coast time!

I still wake up early, get a cup of coffee and go back to wake up slowly and watch the morning shows ...... except I now have a 5 month old kitty named Bogart, and he is super affectionate early in the morning .... sometimes TOO early! {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

My kitten would make a good rooster! {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I stay up very late (often to 2am), and awaken fairly early. Never later than 8am.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Anyone else get up really early and not because of a job?

I do, just habit. Don't nap, it would mess me up since I turn in early. Oh, time changes next month for us too. Think it's 2nd or 9th of Nov. What a pain. At least the darkness is closer in tune with my sleeping, I think. Husband sleeps in, naps too. Go figure.

I wonder if it matter what time slot you were born in. I was an Oct. baby.

Same... way early I get up. I do my best thinking then. Except when I want to sleep in, I can't... I go to bed often way earlier than I would like to. Any suggestions for changing my routine once I am retired? TIA

Nope, I'm 5 yrs retired and still early riser. Love quiet mornings.
