Okay now I have been thinking....Aspen how long are the sessions for you? Mine are 1hr...I did read 90mins somewhere else.

Another poster here did say rolfing hurts....I thought it was similair to some deep tissue massage I have had. Perhaps your friends situation worked so quickly because it was a fresh injury....I have been fighting with this for 5yrs or so now.

Not feeling to hopeful now....only time will tell.

My sessions are always 1 hour. Always have been. I've never had rolfing hurt, although there is sometimes a few seconds of discomfort when I'm having a specific issue in a certain part of my body. But the minute she releases her touch, the discomfort stops. The best rolfers adjust their pressure, accordingly, depending on the patient and the body's issue or injury, age, etc.

Re: Anyone Had Rolfing Done??

Hi Aspen...another question for you! Does the therapist do the same things each time you go for a session?? or are new things introduced as one goes along??

I go in on Wed for my 2nd session...didn't see any improvements at all from the 1st one.

Thanks for sharing

Re: Anyone Had Rolfing Done??

I had "the Rolf" two or three times. The last session was for stuffy nose/sinus & it was not good. Very painful massaging in my eye socket area. Maybe if I would have had more treatments, it would have helped. Now I have only chiropractic treatments.

Bumping this up hoping Aspen see's it!

Also Aspen another question....what is the cost for you at the school? Mine are very expensive at 120.00 per session.

Re: Anyone Had Rolfing Done??

I went through the 10 sessions of Rolfing and continued with maintenance sessions for a couple years. A few years ago I switched to structural integration and it has made a huge difference. I think the key is finding the correct person and maintaining. After years of misalignment or lack of breaking up that fascia it takes some time for the body to hold those changes. My range motion is much better with sessions and I always have to adjust the rear view mirror when I leave because I sit taller. Bodywork is important...it sure cured my tmj!! The jaw sessions are not fun but no pain no gain!! Just know that some therapist might be a better for than another. I think people that haven't benefited may have given up too soon or perhaps haven't found the right person. Good luck P.s. In my area the rollers charge more than the structural integration folks but it is essentially the same work. My rolfer just tended to followed a certain order in the work.

Re: Anyone Had Rolfing Done??

equss I thought it was the same thing? rolfing/structural intergration? now I am confused LOL!

And what do you ladies mean about eye socket/jaw stuff? I don't like anyone touching my face. Head/scalp is fine just not my face...I have rosacea and I treat my skin very very delicately.

Re: Anyone Had Rolfing Done??

Rolfers all graduate from the Rolfing school(can't recall the name of the institute). Structual integration is also deep tissue massage but they don't have the specific Rolfing certificate. So similar work but not identical certification. Don't let the terms throw you just keep doing that deep tissue work. One of my Rolfing sessions worked the jaw area... It happened to take away the Tmj that I went to a dentist for many times with no results. what I have found is the body stats holding the work for longer periods of time. I now go once a month and suspect I will continue. For me regular exercise and bodywork has helped a lot! Well worth the time and expense

There is no proof that rolfing works at all. But the thing is if you go in with and open mind even a placebo has real effect. A lot of pseudo mystic nonsense is associated with it but that can't be helped.

I've heard the same. If one believes then it can work for you. The other draw to some folks is that many if not all rolfers claim they are 'contacts'. Meaning they are in frequent contact with extra-terrestrial aliens.

Huh? I guarantee my Rolfer is very professional. Where do people come up with stuff like this? SMH.
