@GabbyAnn --You need to call your dr and have them explain to you what they found--- My DD-- HAS --to make her appt for reg mammo as well as a MRI one --1 year ahead!!! She gets 2 mammos now as I had breast cancer so she needs to be on top of this. Otherwise an appt in 2 months time is pretty fast. But please leave a message in your portal about this finding.

@GabbyAnn This happened to me a few years ago. Had the mammogram and a few days later got a call from the imaging center. The nurse said that they found a mass in my right breast. She gave me an appointment for a month later for an ultrasound. The next day my Primary cared office called and they were not aware that the imaging center had called me. They were able to get me in the next day for an ultrasound.
It turned out to be a fluid filled cyst. Usually if they suspect something is very suspicious they get you in right away. Hopefully you will have a good outcome. But in the meantime all your primary care Dr and ask them to get you an earlier appointment.

When i had my mammogram in 2019 the radiologist flagged it in the portal as bi rads 5. Then I received a call from my doctor office to go back for another mammogram, which I did within a couple of days.
The radiologist then had me go for an ultrasound down the hall. She came in after the ultrasound ,and told me I needed a biopsy ,but she did let me know I had cancer. This was a few days before Christmas. The biopsy was scheduled in early January.
They knew mine was cancer when the first mammogram was done, and bi rads 5 means highly suggestive of cancer. That information was put in my portal right away.
This was especially scary for me as my mom had passed from bc in 2018.
The tumor was caught early, and was removed. I then had radiation. My mammograms have been clear since that time,

I dont know about other areas of the country but here in MD our Advanced Radiology Centers have been offering since last year the regular 3D insurance paid readings and also ones done by AI, a cut above that costs $40, I did it last year and just did it again with my latest mamm. It is supposed to help to cut down on call backs,

When I lived in California and had to have diagnostic mammogram, I got in right away. I live in GA now and have gotten appointment 1-2 months out. I think sometimes the person calling you to schedule doesn't know exactly what to do. I'd call back, be insistent and ask for an earlier appointment. Speak to a supervisor if you have to.

No way! That is way too long! Call and complain until they get you in.

I had my mammo two weeks ago and got a call back.
I go Friday for diagnostic mammo followed by an ultrsound. The tech told me I have extremly dense breast, some of the worst she has ever seen. She said its like I don't have any fat/tissue in my breast and its all whilte. Right breast was fine, they want another look at the left. Been trying to remain calm while waiting, hasn't been easy. I've only told my husband, just don't really want to talk about it much.

Been in your shoes 3 times over the years. It seems that they just need a closer look due to the density before they can sign off on it , I really would not worry. They are just protecting themselves.

OMGosh---I was always being called back after the initial mammo--for years in fact--same with me, had very dense breasts. Had biopsies and ultra sounds and MRI mammos--but.....I ended up with breast cancer in 2012---and that was after my usual 6 mos mammo---found a lump and immediately got in there and as of this date, am still alive and kicking. So as nerve wracking as it is--all worth it one way or the other.
