Re: Another mammogram call back

You are your best advocate, please call your referring doctor and remind them you were called back last year and the stress of waiting a month is unhealthy for you.  Best outcome wishes for you!

Re: Another mammogram call back

I agree with you ! Too long to wait. I just went through what you are going through. I had to have diagnostic mammogram, needle biopsy then surgical biopsy. The doctor’s office moved up my consultation appointment with the doctor who performed the surgical biopsy. I am blessed, it was a calcification not cancer.

@GabbyAnn  You know the old saying "the wheel that squeaks the loudest gets the most grease". I would call back and insist I needed to be rescheduled within the next two weeks. Surely, they can get you in sooner. Don't worry just be insistent.

Re: Another mammogram call back

@GabbyAnn I don't know about the time frame, but I do know that I would want the mammogram sooner than October.

About 15 years ago, I had biopsy after biopsy, even a lumpectomy, that turned out to be benign.

The radiologist's decided that they thought that each biopsy generated a "suspicious" area that was suspect on the next years mammogram and needed another biopsy.

Every year they apologized for having to take a biopsy. I had around 6 in total plus the lumpectomy.

They decided to stop the biopsy and do my mammogram in a year. At that mammogram, no areas were suspicious. I have not had a biopsy since. I get my mammogram every year and have had no new suspicious areas.

I hope the best for you. I was caught up in pattern of false suspicious areas.

Re: Another mammogram call back

I agree about the appointment being too far in advance.  I had to have a follow up mammogram due to "irregularities" and it was scheduled for the following week.  I would call and reschedule the appointment.

Re: Another mammogram call back

Given the potential diagnosis, it is unconscionable to ask you to wait that long.

Patience is a virtue but it is not warranted here. I would start by calling my doctor's office to get an earlier appointment and go up the chain of command until someone schedules you sooner.

I will pray for a good outcome. God bless you.

Re: Another mammogram call back

Totally wrong to make you wait that long for a call back.  I have been thru the same issues several times, and only waited a few days between appointments.  I would be calling and making a issue of the time frame.  Good luck.

@GabbyAnn   In the world of medicine, not being given another mammogram and ultrasound until October is normal.

In real life, it is scary and anxiety producing.  I've been there and it is difficult to have to wait when you have this on your mind.

You can try to be seen earlier, but you might not be successful.

I had a lump that tested to be a papilloma and was made to wait and just go back for additional mammograms/ultrasounds  every three months.  At the six month mark, my nerves were shot.  I demanded a biopsy immediately.

My biopsy was benign, but I was sent to a breast surgeon to have a Lumpectomy.

I met with the surgeon That was quite a few years ago.  I did not get the lumpectomy, nor did I take Tomoxigin for three years as was suggested.

I just get a mammogram every 12 months now and I have a small metal marker in my breast where the biopsy was done.  My mammograms are now clear.

I think physicians who read mammograms are quick on the trigger.  They error on the side of caution, which is good, but it is highly disturbing for the patient.

I wish you the best of luck and great health.  Let this be a false alarm and may you get in for additional testing ASAP.

BTW, a diagnostic mammogram is the same as a screening mammogram.  The terms used are for billing purposes.  You can only have a screening mammogram once a year.  Any additional mammograms in the same year must be billed as diagnostic, or they will be denied.

While you're waiting to get back into the dr, you can empower yourself so you don't feel like you're at the mercy of the medical system. Eating an alkaline diet, doing lymph massage or bouncing on a mini tramp every day, doing a parasite cleanse, as well as a heavy metal detox will be of help whether or not there's an issue of concern and they're things you can start doing in the meantime.
