While I love oatmeal, I find it's just too many carbs for my body as I cannot confine myself to a small serving.
If I can ever get THAT under control, I'll buy it
@Witchy Woman I agree completely. Andrew is intensley charasmitic, but Muriel just lights up the room when she comes in.
I don't use her cookbooks that much (becasue I just don't do much cooking). That said, I love the recipe that I've used (especially the cucumber soup. yum!). -- I think that Andrew is being very generous with his cookbooks, because I don't think he makes much (or any) money on them. I think he just offers them to encourage folks to be able to make healthy and tasty recipes. ![]()
I started following Andrew in 2007 and, back then, he regularly talked about going to France to see his girlfriend and he was always so respectful about her.
I'm so glad that they found each other. I think she balances him out really well. ![]()
I've been on a paleo type diet (before the term was coined) probably since around 2004-5, so I don't eat oatmeal. Paleo is basically just a grass-fed meat/chicken, wild fish, and vegetables diet (with a small bit of low sugar fruit).
That said, if you do eat cereal products, Oatmeal and Oat Bran are two of the best and most effective cereals that anyone could eat. ![]()
I know what you mean about not being about to confine yourself to small quantities of oatmeal... cause I do love oatmeal raisin cookies... and did eat a few of them when I was over at my mom's last week. ![]()
btw, if you limit your carbs, have you checked out Mark Lesson's website. @VaBelle35 is a huge fan and has posted on it a lot (Mark's Daily Apple). -- Mark used to work for Andrew at Procaps Labs. I think he left about 15 years ago to start his own company, along with a vitamin line (which unfortunately is manufactured by a vitamin contracting company). -- Mark has a lot of great info to share about the paleo diet. ![]()

@Annabellethecat66 wrote:@bebe777Wow! You've had a time of it, haven't you? About 1 year ago I started having severe pain. I layed in bed moaning and groaning for 1 1/2 days (alone).
Then I finally called my guy friend and asked him to come over. He did immediately. He talked me into called an ambulance because I couldn't sit up in a car.
I rode the ambulance to emergency room where they discovered my intestine had broken open and bacteria had been leaking out into my stomach.
But because I'd waited I was lucky in that it (the fissure) had healed so they didn't need to operate. I was in the hospital for 5 days (a long time these days) and they pumped me full of antibiotics.
I've always had a sensitive 'gut'. My daughters are the same way (i.e. not a lot of dairy, meat, etc). I baby my stomach and know what does and doesn't work (probably like you do @bebe777,
His vitamins work well for me. I REALLY believe in Lysine vitamins. Every time (OK, every other time) I go to dentist I'm there, mouth open, for at least 2 or more hours). About 1 week ago he was trying to decide about buying a new dental machine....my mouth was really twisted around...Ha! Well, as usual it tore my lip and it looked like I had a big cold sore. I came home and started taking Lysine and it's almost healed. I swear by that stuff. Same thing with the Cranberry vitamins and so on (won't bore you with others). Ha!
I guess all that matters is we (you and I) and some other's believe they help us and that's what matters....right?
@Annabellethecat66 yup we're in the same club. Yikes! Mine exploded unfortunately. I knew what was happending and literally took a cab to the very best hospital in the area (which probably saved my life). I literally screamed for an hour (after two rounds of pain killers) before I finally passed out. I got lucky with a crazy smart and empathatic surgeon. -- So life has had it's challenges since then.
I'm so glad that your fissure was able to heal on it's own, so you didn't have to have the surgery. According to one of my nurses (who went through that, as well as childbirth). CHildbirth without an epidural is a walk in the park compared to acid leaking out of the intestine into the stomach cavity.
Unfortunately, I had a cast iron stomach before these issues. I can still eat anything, lol it's just the digestive end that is challenging, but it's all good. ![]()
How frustrating (and painful) about your incident with that dentist. I'm so glad that you knew to use lysine, --Thanks so much for the info about lysine. I don't take it these days, but when I was a vegetarian it was a daily must have.
I completely agree with you about how lucky we are to have solid info about which supplements to use... and to have such a great source as AL!! ![]()
Thanks so much for sharing. ![]()

They do seem a good match, don't they?
I realized a couple of years back that I had to eliminate as many carbs from my diet as possible. I went through menopause and found I just could NOT lose or even maintain my weight even though I exercised and ate healthy.
I'm not as diligent about educating myself on these things and tend to do a limited amount of reading, but I understood that when I ate white carbs, I just ate more of everything AND could not lose weight. Loved bread and pasta -- that all had to go, but for an occasional indulgence. The less I eat, the better I feel, but you know there area always temptations.
I know grains are healthy, but they don't work for me, so I stick to vegetables/fruit/protein, although not grain fed anything (that I know of). I try to focus on mostly fish and/or chicen -- no beef or pork.
It has helped, but I still have to be vigilent.
I will check out Mark L's info.
Although I love listening to AL when he is here, I admist to being lazy about learning in depth about nutrition. I do read and learn, but try not to go crazy over it. However, I will never buy any other supplements besides AL. Trust is important, and I trust him to make a great product.
Staying on track has gotten easier. My worst habit now is sometimes eating beyond being full.
That's my next challenge.

@bebe777 I just bought 120 caps of 009-700 Probiotic Flora blend.
I have to take so much Amoxicillan it's crazy! Every (just about) dental procedure I need to take it and it upsets 'things'. It is more difficult for me to get back to normal because I have IGG with my blood problem....I'm hoping this will help get things right quicker.

@Witchy Woman you sound like you are on the right path.![]()
You may want to check out this page from Mark Sisson's site which is very interesting ( @VaBelle35 I thought you would be interested in this as well, though you have probably already read it *s*):
https://www.marksdailyapple.com/how-hunter-gatherer-diets-varied/
I came to my diet via Dout Kauffmann: Know The Cause - Doug Kaufmann -- Doug has an unusual perspective which has been really helpful for a number of people: About Doug Kaufmann | The Fungus Link to Ill Health - Know The Cause
I only eat grass-fed meat and chicken and their dairy products.
I'm allergic to fish and seafood, so that's never been an option. -- You need to make sure that you fish/seafood is all wild caught and not "farmed".
Farmed fish is grain fed and comes in two varieties:
* fish raised in large vat containers
* fish "raised' in the sea but in huge nets. -- these fish are fed grain. They also need lots of antibiotics to protect themselves from all the waste products of the surrounding fish. Yup, Gross!!! ![]()
Interesting fast, farmed salmon are fed dye or other products that will turn the salmon that well known pink color. -- wild salmon get pink naturally by eating algae. The real pink color that wild salmon have creates astaxantin in the wild salmon which is an important antioxidant... there's no astxanthin in farmed "pink" salmon. ![]()

Hi VaBelle35 , great idea!!! Thanks so much for setting up a Lessman chat thread for today's two great TS specials.
The Lessman fans who also use Chaz Dean's Wen haircare products know that we have monthly Wen Chat threads, which we also use to have live chats during the shows. These chats have been a great way "meet" other Procaps users, as well as to share info about Andrew's products and to get questions answered while Andrew is on air. And it's just a lot of fun. *s* -- I'd like to suggest that we use VaBelle35s thread to have live Andrew Lessman chats during his three upcoming shows during the next two days. I'm planning on watching the shows live, so I should be around. *s*
Thanks to Nightowlz for sharing the upcoming Procaps Labs / Andrew Lessman schedule in another thread in the Wellness forum:

In the next few posts, I'm going to:
* add Andrew's latest blog post about the two TS values
* share again, my post on how I was able to get really great additional savings by ordering directly through Procaps Labs and taking advantage of their most recent quantity discount.
And, in the next few hours, I'm going to put together a cost analysis for these two great TS values. -- Thank you Andrew for these great values.
Thanks again Val and Nightowlz!!

@bebe777 Interesting article. THanks for posting that.
I am doing Mark's new Keto Reset program. For those of us already Primal, we go right to Keto, but there is a 21 day plan to get you ready for Keto.
As with everything Mark Sisson, it's approachable, manageable and liveable.
We have a health coach at work who is pushing Keto on everyone. He hands then a piece of paper and "go." Many are having trouble getting started so I am recommending this book because it helps people understand what they are shooting for and how to get there gradually.
This Keto plan is 6 weeks as Mark is not sold on being Keto for life. I also like Mark's approach to intermittent fasting. I've read a lot about IF for women at different stages of life (pre-peri-post menopause, etc.) and IF can be stressful on the system for women, so we need to approach it cautiously.
Today was my first day trying MCT oil.

Hi @VaBelle35 , I thought you'd probably had seen that page, so I'm glad it was interesting. I haven't looked through it yet, but it looks like great info.
Mark really amazes me with all of the tweaks to his paleo diet. I still chuckle a bit because I remember the days when he was on Doug Kauffmann's show and would talk about drinking beer (which comes from cereal grains *s*).
What distinguishes the Keto Reset program from general paleo?
Medium Chain Tryglicerides (MTC) is something I've never got around to trying. -- Can you just take unfiltered coconut oil, or do you need a special MTC oil?

I agree that getting the quantity discount from ProCaps is a great way to go, as long as you can swing spending that much (they only offer payments on the TS products). I've gotten 5 - 15%, never 20%. I've found that I look for which of the products I use are on sale, then I buy 2-4 products to get the additional 5-10% off.
Does anyone know what products are being highlighted on The Monday Night Show?? And will most of what is on sale today with free shipping still have that pricing Monday? I was looking at placing a ProCaps order later today.
Also, has Andrew mentioned if there will be another special on ChocoNuvo later this year or is what they are showing now all that there will be?
I'd try and ask Procaps some of these questions but it is IMPOSSIBLE to get them on the phone any weekend Andrew is on air.

@bebe777 Keto Reset is 20g-50g. I think regular Keto programs are 20g.
You know Mark, he has to find the ceiling.
And never fear, he will never give up his tsp of sugar in his morning coffee.
This is why I'm devoted to him for life. LOL
