Greetings all,
I was interested in buying Andrew Lessman's Secure Complete Meal Replacement Shake after seeing him presenting it the other night, but then saw on the list of ingredients that FRUCTOSE was the number 2 ingredient listed. I thought fructose was bad for the body. Am I missing something here? I have my favorite protein shakes that I turn to but every now and then I like to try something new. This particular meal replacement caught my eye because it mixes nicely with a beverage in a glass without being lumpy. It sounds like the perfect shake when on the go and when there's no blender on hand. But now I'm having second thoughts about getting it.

I thought fructose is fruit sugar.

I've read that it is a fruit sugar, but I've also read that fructose is bad for the body. ??? I'm so confused.

Thanks for the clarification, addiegal!

Yes, thank you. I wouldn't worry about A.L.'s fructose. It's most likely fruit sugar. Fruit contains sugar (fruit sugar).

Sugar is sugar no matter where it comes from. Fructose, sucrose, agave, honey, cane sugar---- is still sugar. Fructose when eaten as fruit is better because you are getting the fiber too. Check what the sugar grams are on the label. I try to stay at 6 grams or below and let me tell you, that is a chore.

I like Andrew but his protein powders contain ingredients I avoid. I would not buy this. In this one, I would not want the fructose but I would not get past the first ingredient listed either - soy.

Lessman recently added a Whey Protein isolate to his products and it looks like a good one.
Only contains whey protein isolate (non-GMO) with a small amount of sunflower oil to aid mixing (all protein powders have something as a mixer).
No sugars at all.
I avoid soy like the plague and do use whey protein isolate, although I haven't tried Andrew's.

No, fructose is not bad for you. It's sugar from fruits. In moderation, it's perfectly fine. So, as long as you aren't planning to drink 32 shakes a day, you shouldn't worry.
