Sorry to hear of these issues and wish you the best healing.

I was thinking that I never, ever knew I had kidneys or a heart when I was 20.  Now I keep checking 🤭

It is a long road and a juggling act with health issues certainly as we age. I am glad that many of you are getting good care with your doctors, and at least you know how to lessen the effects and they are switching medicines.

Prayers and good thoughts for all of you and it is good you are getting checked out!  It's the time of life when we start to need more maintenance than the car!  Woman FrustratedWoman Wink

@chrystaltree    I have the same problem.  For years I've taken prescription NSAIDs for arthrutis, always carefully monitored with quarterly blood tests.  Suddenly I was told they were affecting my kidney function and to discontinue them.  Now I'm left with throbbing arthritis, A painful back, knee, shoulder and ankle and absolutely no pain reliever available to me.

NSAIDS, in particular ibuprofen, can wreck your kidneys.  I have CKD3 and can only ingest Tylenol which really doesn't help my arthritis.  I have been given permission from my nephrologist to use Voltaren gel, however I'm still leery and only use it twice a day rather than four times.  On the other side of the coin, too much Tylenol can wreck your liver.

I've been taking Gabapentin 3x a day..I had  Stage 3 kidney cancer 2 yrs. ago...It doesn't help much for my pain.

I was  told I could use Voltaren..I needed DH to put it on where I couldn't reach..

The Dr. told him to use rubber gloves..it may affect his heart and those meds absorbing into his skin by touching Voltaren

I stopped it..So be careful if you have any other conditions.

Voltaren is an NSAID

My nephrologist banned me from NSAIDS, I was taking 800mgs 2 to 3 times a day.   It was hard to stop.   There were a few times I needed 200mg at night just to get some relief to sleep.

I use CBD creams & gels.   No THC which I think makes it legal everywhere and it really helps.   I also use Aspercream sometimes.  At night I'll take a 650mg acetaminophen then massage my lower spine with the CBD cream.   Then rub what's leftover on my hands.   My spine & hands are the worse for arthritis.

@JeanLouiseFinch

Thank you.  I'm confident that once they get all of this sorted out, I'll get back to being myself.  Stressful though this is now, I'm thankful that I don't have anything truly serious.
