@haddon9 I couldn't help but notice the little picture of your ADORABLE dog.  What breed?  (We have and love our Golden Retriever.)

@spent2much Thanks so much!  She was a very much loved dog!!  My avatar is of her as a puppy and we got her as a rescue.  We believe that (or at least we were told this) that she is half Beagle and half Vizsla.

She was a pumpkin color which Vizslas tend to be. I used to think she looked like a mini Lab.  She lived to the age of fifteen and went to doggy heaven in 2021.

I love Golden Retrievers too!  They have such a wonderful disposition and friendly personality. Your dog looks very sweet!

I take claritin ready tabs. I like these because they dissolve  quickly on your tongue, and work much faster then taking  the pills.

They work well for me as I have alot of allergies.

@Kachina624 - I take Walmart's version of Zyrtec every morning. I used to have seasonal allergies; since we moved here I have them all of the time.

The nasal spray doesn't work for me either.

My doctor is OK with this regimen.

Zyrtec is the only allergy pill that works for me. All of the others are like taking a sugar pill. I've tried the nasal sprays and have different problems with each of them. So it's Zyrtec or it's generic every day for me, too. @beach-mom @Kachina624

I've taken many OTC allergy medications over the years. The best now are the generic version of Xzyal which does a good job of drying up nasal sinuses and controlling throat scratchiness/coughing. It's supposed to last 24 hours, but sometimes I find it only lasts for about 12. I frequently take Benadryl, also the generic form, for sneezing, itching, hives, etc. I only take one tablet at a time so don't get tired from it.

Here in south Florida, allergy season is year round and I'm unfortunately prone to many allergens.

When spring starts, I use Flonase nasal spray about 3 times a week.  That's all I need unless the pollen is really bad; then perhaps another day or two each week.

For occasional relief the rest of the year, I take a Benedryl at bedtime, and it's still working the next day.

I use generic OTC fexofenadine. It seems to work better for me than other brands.

Thanks everybody for all your suggestions.   Maybe I'll buy one of everything and do a consumer test?  I already know I can't take Benedryl and Fluticasone doesn't work for me.

We have found out that by keeping our nose flushed out (morning & night) helps us tremendously.  We each have our own Neil Med Sinus Rinse kit (bottle & saline packets)....I also use Pataday eye drops every morning.
