When DH had Sciatica he couldn't put his socks on.

He bought RMS Deluxe Sock Aid- Socks Helper Foam Handles (for regular socks). It's $9.97 on Amazon. It worked for him. There are some videos showing how to use it. 

Hopefully he can push his feet in the socks using one of these without too much pain.  I've also been dealing with some hip pain. It's no fun. Tell DH I hope he can find some relief.

These work pretty good as long as the sock doesn't get pushed off the holder by your foot as you slip it on.

I wear a medical grade compression stocking on one leg everyday and while I am able to put it on myself, both my parents had to wear them and they needed help in putting them on.

While they had 7 kids not all of us could be there to put them on all the time. !

So there are devices that you can find at medical grade sites for compression stockings. 
I also developed a way of folding my father's stockings (which were compression) and he could put them on himself, if needed. My father had a heart attack and then a stroke and it helped to have them folded to his specifications. 

It was a bit different for my mother who had both knees replaced and she too wore medical grade compression socks. It was never easy to put them on her. I found a way with an item called VenoDonner at a site that sells medical grade compression stockings--Ames Walker.

@Mom2Dogs I know it's frustrating for both of you. Can his doctor give him some exercises to help him increase dexterity? I'm surprised that he wasn't given these. Hope he gets some help.

@Love my grandkids    No he did not get any exercises....grrr.

I told my husband I should go with him but he didn't think it was necessary.  I realize he is a grown man but sometimes I don't think he realizes he needs to take the reins on the conversation.

@Mom2Dogs I would suggest one of you call the doctor and have him provide your DH with exercises!

@Mom2Dogs   any thoughts about going to a physical therapist to learn some specific flexibilty-dexterity exercises after my tkr my pt and my husband showed me several that helped a lot

@Mom2Dogs : I totally understand. I have hip and lower back problems. I purchased all the ones mentioned but not the one mentioned in message 14 and can not use them. Poor DH has fibromyalgia and I hate to ask for help.
