Hi,
Background: I used to be in shape but my metabolism slowed to a snail's pace and since I didn't change my eating habits, I gained tons of weight. I'm now trying to lose 70 pounds. I did South Beach lost and gained back pounds. So now I'm doing it the smart way: eating better and working out. I work out by walking on a treadmill and doing zumba and yoga. I also have fibro and I'm in my 30s.
My upper body is very weak and so is my core. I bought the Ab Coaster because of the You Tube video where the guy said it help with his back pain.
The assembly was pretty easy. Hardest part was was attaching the front part to the curved part of the machine. That took a while; extra person would have been helpful.
The workout: The seat is comfy and the it glides very smooth. I started doing the motion of moving back and forth and I felt like I was just swinging. I noticed the counter was still at zero. Then I decided to bring my knees up to where the machine would count the crunch. WOW!! I felt it then! The first thing I wanted to do was pull with my arms, but I knew I was cheating because the swing movement was too fast and got stopped by the "stoppers at the end of the curved bar. I've done 40 reps going front and back. Haven't done sides yet. When I start to feel like I'm putting too much weight on my arms, I hop off because I know I'm starting to get weak and cheat.
Although it's been a very short time, I really like it. I do feel it in my lower abs. I'm going to slowly increase my reps.
It's a keeper!!
