I saw your comment about hysterectomy and hair loss. I, too, had extremely thick hair. After my 2001 hysterectomy I have lost at least half the volume of my hair, if not more. I wonder if hormone replacement has any effect

I took it for a short while many years ago.  Like another poster here it caused me to break out with more acne then I was already dealing with.  For some reason b vitamins do this to me.  But even worse was the need to urinate constantly.  Day and night.  I would stop taking it and I would be ok..but as soon as I began taking it again the breaking out and constant urination!  I told my spouse about it and he didn't believe me.  So he started taking it....came home from work after a few days and said he would never take it again as he had to go to the bathroom constantly all day long. LOL

I figure I must not need it and my body (and my husband) was getting rid of all the excess as quickly as possible.

Then I found out about it messing up thyroid testing (I have thyroid disease) so that also made it something I have just forgotten about.

I wish you well with your trial of biotin most people don't seem to have these odd reactions to it but I wanted to share just in case.

@Ronettes Try eating a cup or more of blueberries everyday. My hair started to grow insanely fast when I did this. I also noticed quicker hair growth when taking 400 mcg of folic acid.

Good ideas!

@Ronettes   Like you, a total hysterectomy did a number on my thick hair.   At 50, my hair was noticeably thinner.  I did start taking Biotin and saw no improvement.  The thinning has gotten worse with thyroid issues.

I have read medical reports that have said if your body doesn't need the Biotin, it unfortunately, is not going to help.

I do wish you success. I know how devastating it can feel.

Once I doubled how much I was taking,  I noticed my nails grow much faster...I am not noticing hair in the bottom of the shower when I wash my hair, but have not noticed any change or improvement in my skin.
