You scold others that discuss medical conditions. You were a nurse for heaven's sake. Spend the money and go to a doctor.

It is a rash - hardly a medical condition.

Just a suggestion, but your rash could be coming from a fungus in your water supply at the campground, in relation to all the rain you've had in PA this summer. We are on public water that comes from a reservoir, and then holds in a lake. Every summer the water in the lake "turns", and grows algae, which results in a dirt smell to the water, even though it has been treated, is crystal clear, and safe to use. From July to September, we use bottled water for all drinking purposes. Some water customers have experienced skin rashes in connection to the extra chemicals used to treat the algae laden water.

I have recently had cause to learn a lot of information re rashes. My older sister, in her 60's, had what we thought were bug bites on her chest. After developing into a rash and finally into a blistering mess, many trips to physician and dermatologist, and finally skin biopsy, she received the diagnosis of an autoimmune disorder called bullous pemphigoid.

I had and continue to be doing so much reading on autoimmune disorder skin conditions. My sister is a young 60 something, full of life and very healthy. This condition, in a matter of eight weeks, has completely changed her life.

I consider myself well read about family medical conditions and the like. I am a breast cancer survivor and can discuss invasive, infiltrating breast cancer and the ups and downs of hormone blocking therapy. I consider myself almost an expert on the genetic condition hemochromitosis, an iron loading disorder that initiates in the small bowel. But I had never read or heard of anything like this!

This "condition" has rocked our world, mostly my sister's of course. There is no cure, one can only hope to control the symptoms. Treatment starts with Prednisone and moves on to immune destroying drugs, including chemotherapy.

I don't know why I really posted this here. I guess just to make others aware of what can happen with a rash. There are so many, many things it could possibly be. I sincerely hope it turns out to be something simple and just would like to wish you good luck with your rash.

I have developed a raised red itchy rash on both my arms. At first I thought it was poison ivy since we live in the summer at our camp but it has been there for too long and has never developed into the blisters. I have tried everything I can think of - I tried desenex powder in case it was a yeast - nope - cortisone lotion - nope - I even tried antibiotic ointment in case it was bacterial- nope. I am at the end of my bag of tricks. Our insurance will pay for an emergency visit to a doctor while we are away from home but our co pay is high and this is not truly an emergency by any stretch of the imagination. I surely wish I could figure out what it is though. When i was a child I would get eczema from emotional situations and as my BIL has been very ill since we came home in May and passed away last week I am wondering if it is that. But I have not had that since I was a child.

Just venting here trying to figure it out.

Have you looked into places like Urgent Care Dr. in the area? It should be just a co pay.

pa? we recently visited and I was wondering about the water. First of all, DD uses tap water for the baby's bottled formula. (haven't mentioned this to her) While staying at their home, at my first hop into the shower, I started i t c h i n g like crazy! What????

Now, back in TX... my upper arms and hands are having a rash and i t ch i n g like crazy. It is getting better. I put a new face cream on hands and arms ... and figure it must be that?

Is PA water safe?

Should not be an autoimmune disorder as I take daily prednisone for my asthma.

I lived in pa birth until age 62. The water never bothered me one bit before.

When I found a rash a few months back it ended up being Shingles.

Go ask a local pharmacist, they are helpful.
