Re: 90+ drugs to be dropped from insurance in 2019

With the exception of Oxy (who didn't see that coming) and Namenda (why? it's the one thing Alzheimer patients have that does a little something for them), none of these seem to be very popular prescriptions.

I'm astonished Viagra was on the list to begin with!

@Laura14

The article says (I think) that  the drugs being dropped  from coverage do not apply to Medicare patients, who are likely users of Alzheimer drugs.

.  The story also indicates that many of the listed  drugs are available in generic form, so maybe insurance will cover the generic.

Not sure, so don't take my word for it.  I don't take any drugs, so all I know about them is info that  a friendly retired pharmacist neighbor sends to our area.

Viagra is not that expensive (most men get only a pill or two at a time) and is off patent so sildenafil is probably on there instead.

I don't take any of those drugs, hopefully they will all be generic soon and people will be able to afford the Pradaxa.

@novamc1  You and I are on the same wavelength!  I just posted that is probably the case with Viagra being dropped.  No one is going to pay for a more expensive brand especially for a non-maintenance med.

ETA:  You are absolutely right about Medicare.  They have their own formulary and I did see that Namenda ER is being dropped.  Hopefully that means the other versions will be available for the early onset group.

@novamc1@Laura14

I am surmising that many will have generic forms, possibly OTC...I thought I saw Viagra on that list.

i love how anything for eczema or breakouts/itching is not on hardly any formularies. NOT
