I am keeping my paws crossed for you, John, that it is nothing that will keep you down for more than a New York minute!

@sfnative Ok..I will leave your decision up to you but I hope you stay...who is going to help me with knitting though? The lettuce by the way is sold in USA and Canada but they haven’t determined the source of that romaine as yet.

Sids.....I want you to know how much I appreciate your information and comments. The citations on Dr. Pompa and the Scientific American article were stellar and enlightening. I'm going to change how I exercise based on the research and this information.
I just want you to know how much I enjoy and learn from your input.

Hard for me to believe how much less hungry I am not that I am no longer eating grains. It is like someone pulled a switch and I am satisfied with my meals. Lost more weight too. I think I will start weighing in weekly, though. Often times initial weight loss after reducing starchy foods comes from losing water weight. I don't want to be too wrapped in what the scale says rather how my clothing fits and feeling well.
Breakfast was Egg Beaters with 1tsp of Chive Cream Cheese. The fat in the Cream Cheese kept me full until 2 this afternoon. Lunch was a nice salad with mozarella, many different vegetables and some turkey. I splurged on the dressing 75 calories per tablespoon ...but it was worth every calorie. Dinner will be fillet of salmon with mustard, more vegetables and a small salad with a tsp. of olive oil and vinegar (fresh herbs also added). I usually have a cup of de-caf for dessert.
It snowed here all day. Usually, I would be bored to tears and eating crackers and cheese. Snacking too much. Instead, I am very motivated to eat healthy and I already am seeing results. More energy....
Hope everyone is doing well....

Many of you provide inspiration. My goals are so small that I hesitate to participate. I'm going to start by limiting coffee and soda. I'm now drinking water, herbal tea and 100% grape and cranberry juice. That FitBit TSV interests me, but it will take a long time to reach 10,000 steps a day.

You might be surprised how many steps you get together just by doing your daily routine. I have as my goal to do 3,000 steps. Sometimes I will do that and sometimes I will succeed my goal by a few thousand steps. The FitBit also measures your heart rate.

@SeaMaiden: Ok: Need to start some how. Age 63 , 5 ft 3 at about 194 . I have osteoporosis, arthritis, lower back and hip problems, orthopedic issues- one leg shorter than other. I use a walking cane and sometimes a walker. Per Doctor advice have a recumbent bike and exercise chair. Having issues with balance and vertigo- in hospital recently for major vertigo issue. Multiple test- no problems with stroke, blood pressure , diabetes and do not want them. I am an emotional eater plus caregiver to DH with multiple health issues including depression and memory issues. No excuses but I just let myself go but now tired of constant pain and no energy.Trying to drink more water that makes me gag and choke. Trying to make better food choices and portion control Trying to adjust the recumbent bike for lower back issues and difficult to find pillow to tape on the back to help sit and use bike. Advised to start slow and focus on balance and strength issues. SouthernBee
