Re: 13 States Already at 70% Vaccinated with at least one shot!

I agree that the Covid shot should not be called a vaccine. It doesn't cure, just makes one less susceptible to the virus. I admit that I have called it a vaccine just because the term is so commonly used, but it isn't accurate.

The vaccine is not brand new.  SARS -- also called Covid-2 -- hit in 2012 and a vaccine for that was developed. SARS and today's Covid are members of the same coronavirus family. The SARS vaccine is where research and development began for the covid vaccine.

My point was that the vaccine for SARS had been abandoned  in 2002-2003  because there was no money to be made . SARS  " had originated in southern China would cause 8096 cases, resulting in 774 deaths in 26 countries. " From   WHO report SARS was from probable  lab leak.

@teganslaw  But the covid vaccine is exactly that --- a vaccine, according to the definition of a vaccine.  It provides immunity to a specific disease.  A vaccine, by definition, doesn't "cure".

@Deree  What she is saying is it does not fit the very definition of a "vaccine".   Vac·cine | vakˈsēn | noun | a substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases, prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products, or a synthetic substitute, treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease. The "covid vaccine" is NOT a vaccine based on this definition. This "vaccine" is an experimental drug with absolutely no properties of the virus in it.   And NO ONE knows the long term affects of taking it.  The purpose of the shot is for the most vulnerable to be able to get the virus and be basically asymptomatic and then have the antibodies.  It in no way prevents the virus, or transmission of the virus.  It lowers your chances and also lowers your symptoms if you do get it.

      I believe it was termed a "vaccine" to make it easier to understand for most (even though it's actually wrong terminology) and to give a rather false sense of what it is.  The vaccine you get for the flu IS a vaccine, it has properties of that particular strain of flu they think will be the strongest that year.  This shot has zero properties of the covid virus. Therefore it really does not fit the actual clinical definition of a vaccine.  Your body's immune system learns how to fight the virus much better if you have been exposed and your immune system has fought it and you have recovered.  Natural immunity is far better because our bodies are amazing things.  Once recovered those "antibodies" will recognize and be able to know how to fight it and defeat it much better the next time.  Which is why natural immunity technically lasts longer and is generally better.  We have survived for so long due to our immune systems learning how to fight this kind of stuff that comes around.  Yes the elderly and those with weakened immune systems or co-morbities should check with their doctors and then get the shot as recommended but the young and the healthy should definitely be careful since their immune systems if not compromised can fight this with little to zero symptoms.   Their risk has always been next to zero and a lightning storm has a better chance of injuring them.  This remains an emergency use serum, and an experimental one.

A vaccine is a vaccine, not a cure for anything.

For example.......

The polio vaccine most of us got as children right  after it was developed  and made available did not CURE polio, but changed the potential infection rate and kept kids MUCH more immune and safer from that debilitating condition.

     Simply getting the vaccine does not prevent someone from getting or spreading COVID... So every vaccinated person can still infect dozens of people each day.

The "covid vaccine" is NOT a vaccine based on this definition. This "vaccine" is an experimental-emergency drug with absolutely no properties of the virus and it.  There is a very large difference between other vaccines and this one.  The others have undergone rigorous testing and MANY years of studies on side effects. So that comparison is apples and oranges   And NO ONE knows the long term affects. The first 24 to 48 hours after your "jab" isn't indicitive of anything.  The vaccine is NOT a cure.  They openly have said they do not know what impact it will have on any diseases or issues you currently have or how it will eventually interact with any medication you are presently on.

     A recent study by the Cleveland Clinic analyzing more than 50,000 of its employees over five months found that those who had been infected with COVID-19 did not benefit from vaccinations. During the study, researchers found that not a single person who had been previously infected with the virus became ill.  Considering how many people are suspected of having been exposed but not shown any symptoms this is outstanding news. It means far more of the population right now has a string defense against Covid 19 that we thought

     The human body has been reacting to viruses for a VERY long time and it creates defenses against them when exposed.  True, the length and strength of this defense is unknown at this time but that's just because it hasn't been around that long. The important thing here though is that this shows the human body CAN develop just as strong (or stronger) a defense by actually having been exposed to the virus as by receiving the vaccine.

      There is no peer-reviewed, major medical publication that states that paper or cloth masks are effective against the spread of viruses. The CDC and NIOSH themselves said exactly that in 2018 literature supporting the use of N95 or better protection. Surgical masks are to prevent hairs, epithelia and spittle from getting into an OPEN WOUND. They are supposed to be disposed of, like gloves, after each patient encounter.   FYI the reason you saw pictures of asian countries wearing masks prior to covid19 had absolutely zero to do with the Flu. The entire reason they wore masks is because of how terrible their air quality is on an almost daily basis due to pollution.

      The mask, while I am sure was better than nothing, in reality did nothing to protect people from the virus, and Fauci’s emails confirmed this. However, it gave people a feeling of safety, which from a bird eyes point of view, was probably more important than the safety from the virus itself. It gave people security when all the talk was doom and gloom. It allowed them to step into the outside without full panic.

      The masks most people wear are particle masks and in no way prevent anyone from getting Covid.  If the masks were so effective in trapping this deadly virus, then why were there no guidelines on how to properly dispose them without spreading the infection?

      Bottom line, they are seeing "reactions" weeks, months after this vaccine in perfectly healthy young people.  Why would you want to put an experimental vaccine into a perfectly healthy young person who statistically we now know has a greater chance of being struck by lightning than dying from this?  Or even having severe issues?  85% fo those who died were over 65 with 2 or more exisiting co-morbiities.  Chances are very high these young people's bodies have performed as nature intended and have a healthy robust immune system that fights this virus off.  In past years young and healthy people died from the common flu.  They have not died from this virus, why?  It has the lethality to kill the elderly and sick, not the young and healthy.  We know obese, diabetic, lung conditions and immune compromised are at the highest risk.  Anyone willing to put an emergency, experimental drug into anyone 20 or younger where there is zero knowledge of how it will effect their perfectly healthy systems and those that have not gone through puberty needs to ask their doctors if they should get it.  Being "required" to have it is not why you should get it.  Being a "patriotic act", is no reason to get it .  The only reason to get vaccinated is if YOU are at risk, if YOU fall into the highest risk catagory.   It is a medical decision that should be left to each individual's doctors.  And yes to some this is a "poison".  I should know.  I did wind up with a lasting issue FROM the vaccine.  I was perfectly healthy before, now not so much.

@eadu4

I type quite a few long posts, as is this one you posted. However, I have never used Cut/Paste in any of my posts. Guess I prefer using my own words, along with how I view things.

What seems to me to a post with the word "vaccine" broken down into a part of speech. I see that primarily in a dictionary, not in someone's own thoughts, when written.

My view of the vaccine is pretty simple. It does protect me and also passing on a deadly form of this virus. Keep me or others from contracting it? No! Keeping myself and others from possibly dying from it? Yes!

John, I doubt a vaccinated person can stop  carrying the virus around and infecting others.

That's why the current science seems to dictate  that everyone who can should be vaccinated, and  everyone--vaccinated or not-- would be wise to keep practicing social distance, wear masks and avoid large crowds until enough of the population gets vaccinated to tamp down the risk of spread.

@novamc1

We believe different experts in science. I believe in going about my life now that I, and many others have been 2 times vaccinated. I follow the experts I believe, ones that also worked on, and with patients. Experts like the TV prominent Dr. Fauci, not so much.

Respectfully disagree. If others choose not to get vaccinated, that is their choice. Their health is in their hands, not mine. As I have since the beginning of this virus, I will never place blame on others for any illness I might suffer. If others choose to blame me? I chalk it up with other things that have no effect on me, or how I choose to live my life.

On the question of whether vaccination statistics are valid......

I'm pretty sure that state health departments are notified when people receive the shot or shots.  Those vaccination cards we have to preserve after the shots are not just for our personal records.

Also, I believe officials know how many vaccine doses have been allocated to each state, with local health officials  reporting on their vaccination efforts.

Because  federal government officials have been vigorously behind getting a maximum number of people vaccinated by a certain date, somebody probably is keeping careful track of progress toward that goal.

I don't understand why some folks are making such a big deal of the statistic issue, anyway.  The important issues are number of new  covid diagnoses, number of hospitalizations, number of deaths, etc.  I'll bet those statistics are carefully compiled and reported by  medical professionals, hospitals and state health departments.

@eadu4   The CDC's definition of "vaccine":  "Vaccine: A product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease. Vaccines are usually administered through needle injections, but can also be administered by mouth or sprayed into the nose."

If you do a little more research (because I can't post the links here), you will learn that the covid vaccine, in fact, meets the definition of a vaccine.  I am not going to argue the point with you as it's pointless to do so.  :-)

Btw, your posts are difficult to read -- it would be helpful if you increased the font size and made more paragraphs if the paragraphs are long. :-)
