Yet, experts state that the POPULATION needs to reach 70-80% for herd immunity.  So the news story is a red herring with a meaningless information.  I can state that where I live we are over 80% vaccinated for the most vulnerable, those over 65.  Guess you have to make your own decision who is doing better.

How is that meaningless? If 70% of eligible adults are vaccinated, that's a really good sign that we're on track once kids can all be vaccinated. I guess if you don't read details of the stats, that's your fault. It's clearly stated in the first sentence.

I'm actually appalled that the number isn't higher, so in that regard this isn't great news. We are so spoiled in this country. Other countries are clamoring for the vaccine yet we have a lot of people here who refuse.

Children as young as 13 can be vaccinated....guess they don't count since the numbers may not look as good.  Important for some I guess...

That's only been available a few weeks. My son is still waiting on his second shot.

Again, it's not manipulation. The OP clearly say ADULTS. If you are the type who only reads headlines and can't dig deeper into a story, that's on you. There are too many lazy people who don't read past headlines. I understood the post perfectly. I think it's good news even though I want the numbers to be higher.

I'm not sure why people are nitpicking at the OP. If you don't think that's a good number, then get out there and try to convince those on the fence. I think it's pretty good considering how much it has been politicized and all the whacky conspiracy theories out there. I have set the bar pretty low unfortunately.

@Porcelain I worry more about Long Term effects. They really don't know, because they didn't test it fully on Humans. If you're ok with that uncertainty fine..Me,I'm not..

The City of Albany,  New York will forgive one parking violation in exchange for proof of vaccination.   Parking only, no other traffic or moving violations.  I think it's fine.

The way I'm looking at it is that we now have a group of willing test subjects (since they have made the decision not to be vaccinated) to measure the contagiousness, severity and mortality of the new variants. Those who believe in science will still take preventative precautions around them until results are in.

Numbers/rankings/percentages of certain states tell me very little about the state of the States. As many have already said, they can be manipulated to suit the outcome one desires.

For those that are traveling to different states, maybe they want to see where they stand on these types of numbers, but they will have several to choose from. This State is only 42%,  that State is 40%, guess the old coin flip can decide.

If people want to base what they do, or how they to spend their life, concerned with arbitrary numbers, ok for them. Anyone that follows the national news has heard so many "experts" reversing their  original claims about the virus, it's hard to keep up.

I believe what I thought st the very beginning of this virus, the where/when/who and why. As more facts become known it has solidify what I thought and still think about these reasons.

This is still a free country and it let's me decide how I choose to live my life. Being in fear of "might be's/could be's" to me would be wasting each day I have left. Used to be's and what might he's mean little to me. What "is" will always be my way of life, it is known as the "present", and my plan is to enjoy it until I can't.

@hckynut   Oh man this is the best post I have seen yet.  I am with you.  Most have already lost more then a year.  I am glad that my life went as normal.  I think they want us to live in fear, but since we don't know when our last day, week or year is, I choose to live each day to the fullest.   I enjoyed all holidays witth my family.  I don't regret it one bit.   Life is too short and I say live each day to the fullest.  God Bless you John!

My comments were directed at the post i quoted, nothing more.  Thought that was obvious. You took it in a different direction with the selective quote out of context.  Don't blame others for that.

New York.  I am in agreement with the push and the things they will stoop to.  I'm out on this one.  There's more going on here and they aren't telling us.  They can't bribe me.

@conlt It IS more comfortable, especially in these times, to be around those who share our values.  That said, I am not volunteering to help you move.  LOL
