Numbers/rankings/percentages of certain states tell me very little about the state of the States. As many have already said, they can be manipulated to suit the outcome one desires.
For those that are traveling to different states, maybe they want to see where they stand on these types of numbers, but they will have several to choose from. This State is only 42%, that State is 40%, guess the old coin flip can decide.
If people want to base what they do, or how they choose to spend their life, concerned with arbitrary numbers, ok for them. Anyone that follows the national news has heard so many "experts" reversing their original claims about the virus, it's hard to keep up.
I believe what I thought at the very beginning of this virus, the where/when/who and why. As more facts become known it has solidified what I thought and still think about these reasons.
This is still a free country and it let's me decide how I choose to live my life. Being in fear of "might be's/could be's" to me would be wasting each day I have left. Used to be's and what might he's mean little to me. What "is" will always be my way of life, it is known as the "present", and my plan is to enjoy it until I can't.

I believe the discrepancies that you are disagreeing over are probably whether you’re looking at statistics for the entire state population (all ages) or adults only. I’ve seen several posts that aren’t noticing this distinction
For example, in CA it is currently approx 56% (all ages) with at least one shot. Approx 60% for 18-49. 75%+ for 50 and over. If you look at zip code, numbers may vary greatly from the state overall numbers.
From the state tracker site.Which goes to the point so many have tried to make all along...statistics can be manupliated to prove any point. Want high vaccination numbers .... don't count children. Want low numbers ..... count total population. Want even lower numbers..... add an estimate for those who may not have been counted. People love to go with the headlines without really understanding what they actually mean. Then argue with other about "sources"
The OP states among adults, since they are the only ones who have been eligible long enough for the stats to count. I don't see any manipulation. It's common sense to only count those who have been eligible.

Yet, experts state that the POPULATION needs to reach 70-80% for herd immunity. So the news story is a red herring with a meaningless information. I can state that where I live we are over 80% vaccinated for the most vulnerable, those over 65. Guess you have to make your own decision who is doing better.

I'm getting on with my life. I pay no attention anymore of this news.

How is that meaningless? If 70% of eligible adults are vaccinated, that's a really good sign that we're on track once kids can all be vaccinated. I guess if you don't read details of the stats, that's your fault. It's clearly stated in the first sentence.
I'm actually appalled that the number isn't higher, so in that regard this isn't great news. We are so spoiled in this country. Other countries are clamoring for the vaccine yet we have a lot of people here who refuse.

Children as young as 13 can be vaccinated....guess they don't count since the numbers may not look as good. Important for some I guess...

That's so cool that you guys are really considering the statistics and how they break down. I'm glad this gave you more food for thought.
It all depends on what you want to look at.
And then there's age cohorts.
The number of people to pull from gets smaller and smaller (and the urgency for individuals in the group to get vaccinated goes up) as you narrow down the numbers you are following.
Feel free to track and care about whichever group you want. Or not. It doesn't really matter. As long as you compare apples to apples (same type of percentage and same age group) you won't confuse anyone.
I think everyone is being clear about their preferences in that regard and are not pretending that two different groups are the same thing. They are just giving their opinion on which group seems more meaningful personally to them.

So true! There's even a book on Amazon Called "How to Lie with Statistics". Easy to twist numbers to make them say what you want them to.

@rms1954 What state or city is this? OMG They will stop at nothing to try and Vaccinate everyone. It makes me wonder,if everyone really needed this and there was such a problem, people would be running to get it.They wouldn't need to BRIBE anyone..Ya think?

Many many people did run to get vaccinated. People like myself and my whole family. I was so happy when it was finally my turn. And when my parents were fully vaccinated I was so relieved. We've all been perfectly safe in our decisions. But that's just me, and millions like me. That's not you.
