Wen isn't working for me.

[ Edited ]

First day I used it   hair was shiny etc. I really liked it. Second day my hair was flat had no body at all. I ended up using regular shampoo . I think I did it right when I used it. Hair really wet, golf ball size conditioner etc. I like to shampoo every second day but don't see how anyone can go for several days without cleansing.

Re: Wen isn't working for me.

I'm sorry your hair didn't respond well.  Going over alll the usual.  Use an extra pump or two of WEN to make sure you've got enough on. add an extra couple splashes water,  use comb to assist with a good rinse,  use leave in on the midlength and ends not on the scalp hair.  It could just be it's not the right choice of CC.  Sweet Almond MInt gave me quite the same results as you report.  Also the seasonals eventually make my hair dull. too much protien, so I use them as a second cleanse only and not every time at that.

I use Tea Tree and Fig and even though I have quite the stash of other CC's  I wouldn't be without those two.

Re: Wen isn't working for me.

I am not a long time user of WEN but here is what is working for me so far.  I have his last TSV in the Pomagrante....and also the TSV prior to that which is formulated abit differently (seasonals they are).  I use my old stand by shampoo...Pureology to cleanse my scalp 1st cleanse.  THen I use the WEN product....only 1 pump is necessary to cleanse my hair.  I rinse with cool water until I feel nothing in my hair.  I only add a dime size or LESS of product back to my hair dripping wet in shower.  Then put my hair in a microfiber turbie twist for about 20mins while I do all my other things like moisturizer/spf/foundation.  Doing this works for me...I do not have thick hair but it is rather curly.

I blow dry my hair and can go every other day to shampoo again.

THis new TSV is different and took alot longer to rinse out totally...and again I only put a tiny dime or less amount on my hair and same with the new styling cream....soaking wet hair....wring out and wrap up in my hair towel.

My hair is very bouncy and clean today.

So far so good....I don't believe I could use his line the way he tells people too.  In the past I tried that and returned the basics products I had tried.  They were the SAM, TT, Fig....none of those worked for me...my hair was flat and dirty feeling within hours.  The POM isn't doing that to me and I am very surprised!  It does have some differences in it formulation.

I say play with it like I have....and see if you can discover a way to make it work.  If in the end it just won't work for you then send it back for refund.

@Nadine  I know what you mean.  I tried and tried but could never achieve the results intended with these products. Was told to give it time which I did but went back to my old routine.

Wen isnt revolutionary,  it's nothing more than a hair conditioner with a small amount of shampoo in it...there's nothing wrong with that but the conditioner can weigh the hair down & build up.  A money saving DIY, just mix your fav conditioner & shampoo together until you get a mix that works for your hair...it's that easy.

I've never tried WEN....and the reason for that is I think Chaz's hair looks absolutely terrible every time he is on air.  Not a good advertisement for his product.

Everyone will tell you to use more or rinse more but don't talk yourself into using it if it doesn't work for you. It's one of the worst hair products I have ever tried.

Re: Wen isn't working for me.

I tried it and can't use it either.  My hair doesn't need conditioned. I have to wash everyday because my hair is oily.  Wen just made it worse. My hair looked unwashed and dirty. It reminds me of Vick's vapor rub.

If you do not have dry, damaged or frizzy hair, chances are it might be too potent and heavy for you to use.

Re: Wen isn't working for me.

@Nadine- I had the same kind of results, when I first tried WEN and decided it wasn't for me.

However, I wanted to use the set I bought and asked for help on these boards.  I have well water, so don't have the pressure others might have from mains water.

A tip someone gave me was to duck my head under the shower, when I was lathering up WEN, and it worked for me.  I don't use as much as instructed, because my hair is above shoulder-length and fine texture.  I experimented until I found what worked, but actually "washing" my hair under the running water and combing through it while rinsing, made a huge difference.  It leaves my hair incredibly soft and I don't need an additional styling product.

I do agree though that not every product works for everyone.  If it isn't right for you, don't feel guilty.  Just find what suits you.
