@AmericanBulldogMom  You can buy Tweak-d on HSN. I'd almost compare it to a foam version of a cleansing conditioner. It comes out as a thick mousse almost that you apply to dry hair first and leave it in for a few minutes. Then you add some water and a little more of the foam, work that into your hair and rinse it out.

@AmericanBulldogMom   Yes I use it on my scalp area & have good results..

i still use the seasonals on rest of my head, even adding 1/2 & 1/2 (seasonal &. WK's)

works better.. sometimes I even just use water on my scalp, (rinse super good & seasonal on ends) my scalp is very dry & shampoo kills it, so I have just come up with a combo that seems to work.. I have 0 oil anywhere, not even as teenager, so the less I put on my scalp the better..we have a good shower filter that helps also..

Wen kids is much gentler but not good moisture for ends..I have my system down pretty good now!.. hope this helps Smiley Happy

@quadmimi Yes, it was very helpful. Thank you so much. ☺️

@quadmimi Edited to add....do you have any preference on the the 3 formulas, like which is most moisturizing, etc or is their performance the same and just the scents different? Thanks for your help.

@AmericanBulldogMom  I like the Strawberry/banana, (the scent , is the least popular I think) but I just like it...The Watermelon is very popular for scent it seems..

They all perform about the same....but beware, many many hair products have menthol nowdays, if you think that is what is bothering you...alot of times it is one of the extracts or citrus oils, not always the menthol.

.That is why I have worked out what seems to be good for me...Shampoo (any shampoo) bothers my scalp even worse, so like I said, that is why I use as little product as I can on it..I guess if I had oily scalp, or product buildup that might be harder..I use a very cool rinse, (not the whole shower though of course)..really watch your water also, we lived for a year where we had very bad water, I did not have a shower filter and didn't realize how bad the water was..

Good luck, it may take a bit, I am sure you can still use Wen, you just might need to use it differently....Smiley Happy

I don't use WEN on my scalp and haven't for at least a year now. If they ever have a WEN kids special I plan on trying it just for my scalp. I used WEN kids before on my hair but it was a bit too drying so I know I can't use it by itself or for all over my hair but perhaps just on my scalp would be fine.

@HappyDaze May I ask what you are using on your scalp now, meaning regular shampoo or sulfate free, etc., and are you just using wen on your length or do you not use it at all? Sorry for all the questions.

@AmericanBulldogMomyou can ask me all the questions you want, I don't mind!

On my scalp these days I either use Tweak-d (the guy who founded i was the same one who started the Ojon line) ultra nourishing foam in the can with purple writing or the restore in the tub (this is my favorite!) or Beekman's Honey orange blossom shampoo bar. Both are sulfate free, none contain menthol or any potential irritants.  I still do not use regular shampoos.

And yes, then I will use WEN on my length of my hair (I have long hair usually to just above my butt but recently got some cut off and now it is about bra strap length). I mainly use SHP CC but also SHL or a mix of the two (SHL is not quite moisturizing enough for my hair to use it alone very time I cleanse). I occasionally will  use Tweak-d on the ends instead of WEN, especially now that I am running low on SHP.

Are you having issues with the regular CCs?

@HappyDaze Thank you so much for not minding my questions. As for your question, I "think" I may be having an issue or the start on one. I am doing a little trial where I have not used wen on my scalp and things seem to be improving. So thats where my original question comes in.

If you've read my posts you will see I love wen and what it has done for my hair these last 6 months. My last hair cut (a big one -below my bra strap to just past my shoulders) was in July and I have no split ends, despite diffusing my hair 5-6 days/wk and coloring my roots every 4 wks. So I am a little heartbroken to think wen might not be agreeing with my scalp. I don't know what ingredient(s) it may be, but the menthol I hear as the biggest culprit. Knowing the wen kids is menthol free I was wondering (hoping) they may be an option for my scalp. This way I was thinking I could use wen kids on my scalp and the seasonals I love on the rest (my length). I appreciate hearing that despite not using any wen CC's on your scalp you successfully use them on your length. This gives me hope that I could use it this way and still continue to get the benefits of it on my length if the wen kids would not work out on my scalp either.

I love his SC and mousse too so I am hoping I can continue to use those - I credit the no split ends to the SC's heat protection Chaz speaks of. I should check those ingredients for menthol to start I guess also.

May I ask where you get the Tweak-d from?  I ask bc my 19 yr old son LOVES the original Ojon Damage Remedy Conditioner which is now discontinued. I haven't found anything for him that compares to it - his words. He has fairly long hair (mid-back almost) and likes to keep it well taken care of and healthy (thanks to me stressing he needs to take care of it and have it look nice if he wants to keep it long 🙂). Since Tweak-d is from the creator of Ojon I am hopeful maybe theres something in this line I I could try for him - a conditioner he may like again Are you familiar with this line to recommend a conditioner from it, or no bc you use wen for your conditioner? Thanks for your patience with me and my questions.

@AmericanBulldogMom Technically the Tweak-d line is also cleansing conditioners, just like WEN so you can use them either as a cleanser, a conditioner, or both. Since you are looking for a conditioner for your son's hair, I'd highly recommend the Restore in the tub instead of the foam can like @HSB1204 mentioned. The can I use on my scalp as it is lighter consistency and the Restore in the tub is thicker and more moisturizing and that is what I use before I cleanse or as a conditioner. You only need to use a very little amount too, unlike WEN where you use alot of product. So one big jar lasts a long time. I actually apply it to my dry hair BEFORE I wash my hair as the ingredients absorb better into the hair that way but some just use it on wet hair.  The restore is very popular and I think your son will love the results of it if he liked the Ojon line. Many people compare the original Ojon line to the Restore and many even says it smells very similar.

I get my Tweak-d from HSN but always wait for their specials because they are crazy good prices like their BOGO. I was able to pick up two big jars of the Restore one time (13oz each) for $8 a jar between the sale and then a coupon HSN had. That is medium drugstore prices!

Anyway, good luck and if he tries it, I hope he likes it!

ETA: Restore is now called Dhatelo Vanilla Amber as seen below.

Tweak-d Dhatelo Restore Cleansing Hair Treatment 8 oz.

@quadmimi Thank you again! I will give the SB a try. It seems I tend to like the least favorite scents (FAS 🤣) so if SB is the least liked scent I will probably love it. Lol! Thanks  for the heads up on the extracts or citrus oils too. I will watch for that. I wonder now if I need to look at the overnight oils I am doing 5 nights/wk. Hmmmm....🤔

@HappyDaze Thank you for the info. I think I will order one of the jars for both him and I to try. He is away at college and there was no way he was lugging big wen bottles around at school, nor does he have the patience wen takes. Lol! I will have him try this Tweak-d over winter break when he comes home to see if he likes it. It would be a lot easier for him to take to the showers too if he likes it.

Edited to add: I just read your post below on how you use the tub mostly as a deep conditioner. That post actually explained the questions I just asked above. 😉 Thanks!

@HappyDaze  Does the Tweak-d scent ever interfere with the SHL or SHP scent when you use Tweak-d on your scalp? I've only ever tried them on their own so I never tried with Tweak-d on the scalp and Wen on the length of my hair.

Since you normally add both the foam and the restore to dry hair first, do you just skip that step and get your hair wet and apply it to the scalp only?

@HSB1204 sorry if I was confusing. Actually I use the foam mostly for my scalp and I do not apply it to dry hair- I just use it like you would any other shampoo or cleansing conditioner- on my wet hair/scalp in the shower. The restore in the jar I use mostly as a pre-treat/deep condtioner or just as a condtioner. So about , ever 3 or 4 cleanses I apply the restore to my dry hair about midshaft to ends, and then all I do is rinse it out with water when I get in the shower.  If I am not using it as a deep conditioner or pre-treat, I will just apply it on wet hair as a condtioner but mostly I use WEN for that step. Does that make sense?

No, I personally have never had it interfere with my beloved SHL scent, lol. The scents don't really linger in my hair after I wash them out, neither did the Ojon. The beekman shampoo bar soap definitely leaves absolutely no scent but bars take some getting used to. I actually lather the shampoo bar up in my hand a bit first then massage my soaped up hands into my scalp. If you try to rub the bar directly on your hair and scalp like I think they suggest you do, it can get messy and the results aren't so great. The bar soap has minimal ingredients so it is great for any sensitivities. I think it even has collodial oatmeal in it. Very nice and cheap.

@AmericanBulldogMom I think he should be able to use it daily. I don't have oily hair so not sure how it works for oilier hair? Since the foam is lighter, it may be better for everyday cleansing for an oilier person? The can dispenser is kind of a PITB though and you never know when you are running out because you can't see into it! There were times I thought I was at the end of the can because it was sputtering out and then poof, it started coming out normally again and I had another month left on it, lol.  I would think the restore would be great for conditioning the rest of the hair though, so like using the foam for washing, then the restore for conditioning.

But to answer your question, I have used both products as a one step product when I was short on time and forgot to apply it to my dry hair before my shower- I just jumped in the shower and cleansed with either the foam or the conditioner, let it sit in my hair for a minute or two and rinsed. I didn't need a separate product after that.  It is too bad that they don't have any BOGO deals going on right now! You can always return it if you don't like it.

@HappyDaze  I was probably the one that caused the confusion. I just meant that both the foam and the restore have to be applied to dry hair. What you described makes perfect sense. Cat Happy

So far I've only tried the regular Beekman soap bars. The unscented and apricot & honey are my favorites. Heart I may have to try the shampoo bar. It can't be worse than the time I tried a Lush shampoo bar for oily scalp. Wow. It's the only time I've ever had an allergic reaction to a hair product. I felt like my scalp was on fire! I have no idea what caused it but the minute I stopped using it my scalp was fine. I guess I should have sued instead! Cat Tongue But yeah, using a shampoo bar definitely takes some getting used to.

@HappyDaze I think I will order a tub for him to try -just as a conditioner to start - shampoo he's not as picky about (Pureology or Alterna mostly). It's the Ojon conditioner he really misses. I'm sure if I tell him it was the Ojon creator who made this Tweak-d conditioner he'd be willing to give it a try. Thank you. Your time and help is much appreciated.
