The scent of the Wen Tea Tree Treatment Oil- okay or super medicinal?

Does anyone strongly dilike the scent of the Wen Tea Tree treatment oil? Is it extemely offensive compared to the other oil scents? I want to get the Tea Tree kit for the conditioner.  I've never used the oil.  Chaz mentioned something about the scent of this---he said all except the tea tree have a pleasant scent.. I don't love the scent in general of the tea tree but it makes my hair grow.  Thoughts on the oil?

If you are familiar with the scent of Tea Tree, the oil smells like that and also eucalyptus. It is not unpleasant to me any more but it used to be when I first started using it.

I think it is worth a try! The results are more than worth it for soooo many people who love it.

Thank you WenWoman. How exactly and when do you use the oil? This will be my first time on very fine hair, not a heavy head of hair either. Thanks!

It's all personal taste, but to me, the TT oil is my least favorite.  I use it occasionally as an overnight treatment because I know it's good for my hair, but the scent is almost too  much for me to sleep in.  Very strong, and not what I'd call pleasant.  I much prefer the fruity scents, like Peach or Cranberry.

Then again, the FAS Mist is my favorite, and I know a lot of people think that fragrance is overwhelming.  You'd really have to try the TT and make up your own mind.

I use it exactly as Chaz recommends...I put 2-3 full droppers (he recommends 4 but my hair is very fine) on my scalp the night before I cleanse. I cleanse generally 3 times per week and try to do it every time, but sometimes I just plain forget.

Some people cannot tolerate sleeping in the oil, but I find it very spa-like and relaxing. I use other scents as well. Tea tree is going to be in heavy use with this TSV value, I have it on autodelivery so I feel I can do more TT.

to me the tea tree is strong at first but after maybe 30 minutes the smell changes to a spearmint smell to my nose. the tea tree is very cooling on my scalp as well.

@acatgirl welcome to the Wen forum and the wenderful world of Wen!!! Smiley Happy

The Tea Tree (TT) TSV kit is a great place to start using Wen. Most of the QVC hosts and Wen models incorporate TT into their hair care regimen. And a lot of the Wenners on in the Wen forum have TT in their hair care routine. -- TT CC is one of the Universal CCs, which means that it works well for most people.

Most people aren't really fond of the TT scent, but most of us get used to it really quickly. And the great hair results tend to overcome any objections to the TT scent.

That said, a few days ago on periscope, Chaz mentioned that while the Tea Tree/Eucalyptus Oil was great for hair growth, that the Pomegranate/Rosemary Oil was the best to promote hair growth. -- Evidently, rosemary essential oil really promotes hair growth.

So, you might want to consider the POM TSV. -- Again, the POM scent is polarizing: Wenners either really like it, or really dislike it. I don't like the POM scent but it works well for my hair, so I'll use it if I have some on hand. -- POM CC is another one of the Universal CCs in that it works well for most people.

I've never used the Wen oils as a scalp treatment, because I've been making my own 95% jojoba oil / 5% tea tree oil blend (never use more than 5% total essential oils). I'm looking forward to trying the Wen Oils in the TSV for the first time.

When I'm being good, I do one to two overnight oil scalp treatments each week. -- The oil treatments help to gently loosen any excess dried sebum (your skin's oil) off of our scalp. When you cleanse your hair the next morning, that excess sebum gets washed away.

The overnight oil treatments also helped to normalize my pre-Wen very oily scalp. Before Wen, my hair became a greasy oil slick inside of 18 hours. These days, I can go 2-4 days between cleanses.

Re: The scent of the Wen Tea Tree Treatment Oil- okay or super medicinal?

Thank  you BeBe777. I am new to the Wen Board but have used various CC's over the past several years. I have one of those love hate relationships wth Wen. I've used SAM (don't care for,) Lavendar really weighed my hair down, I used Pomegranite for quite a while and then 613 and then Tea Tree which really made my hair grow. I am overloaded with replenishing mists, not sure if I need the oil and also have extra styling cream. I use the 613 mousse. I wonder if I should just buy a 32oz TT CC from ebay and save the tax and shipping. I am worried about the scent of the oil.

@acatgirl you're most welcome and thank you for your thanks. Smiley Happy

I love Wen but there is a learning curve. I'm always fascinated when I hear about how two Wenners with similar hair types wind up having their best results with different CCs. -- I've learned that while you can make some general statements with Wen, there are lots of exceptions to every rule.

In the end, I think people have to just try a range of CCs.

You may want to check out some of the Wen Oils threads. I think I remember reading that some people felt the eucalyptus cut down on the Wen Tea Tree / Eucalyptus Treatment Oil.

Or you could just go to the bay. Smiley Happy

I've always bought my Wen through QVC (generally TSVs and OTOs) because I worry about fake Wen.

[ Edited ]

This was the first time (TSV) that I have tried the TT oil.  Don't love the CC, but then again I don't dislike it as much as I did at first.  I mostly use it for my first cleanse, and then a seasonal for my second and leave-in conditioner.

It took me no time to appreciate the TT/Eucalyptus oil.  I smell more of the eucalyptus over the TT.  Overall, I am glad I went out of my normal seasonal comfort level and tried the TT set (because I like the oil more than I thought I would).
