On those days where everything seems to go wrong (we all have those), I always try to end it on a good note by indulging in something special. Sometimes it's a nice glass of wine (or two or three), sometimes it's a big slice of pound cake with a nice cold glass of milk. (I keep individually wrapped slices of homemade cream cheese pound cake in the freezer for this specific reason 😃) Sometimes it's a pint of ice cream......for supper 😍

@sailor_moon I didn't realize you knew him!! 😀  Lordy, he's wonderful, and I wouldn't trade him for anything, but he's the only person I've ever met who can cook a (simple) meal for two people and dirty up every pot in the kitchen. And I'm from south Louisiana.......we love to cook.......we have a lot of pots 😂😂

Girl, I didn't say that "I" made the pound cake, did I??? I've gotta give credit where credit is due, it's from my mother-in-law, I couldn't possibly make one better than she does. She keeps me well-stocked on pound cake and I keep her freezer full of gumbo and boiled peanuts......it's a fair trade 😀 I'll see if she'll part with her recipe for you. 

If I'm going to take time to bake a cake, it's going to have icing. I'm responsible for bringing either an Italian cream cake or a carrot cake to every family gathering. No cake, no entry.

Oh gosh I LOVE a good homemade carrot cake. I used to not like them but now it is probably my favorite cake, oddly enough. So do you have a good recipe for carrot cake?? Am I asking too much?? lol But I seriously would like the cream cheese pound cake recipe too. Wow.

@HappyDaze  Awwwww, thanks so much for sharing! That really does look delicious, need to try to track some down. 

See, this is how it works, once the weather finally cools off, you eat boiled peanuts (1) at the Friday night high school football games and/or (2) throughout Saturday afternoon watching college football games. The gumbo is for Saturday night when our Tigers usually play. Honestly, gumbo is good whenever, my man has been known to spoon the dregs of the leftovers on top of his eggs the next morning. 😛

I'm our of town right now, but I'll be sure to get you that recipe when I get back home. It's an old family recipe, completely and totally unhealthy. It's also the only way I'll eat carrots 😉
