Hi @software, and welcome back. Smiley Happy

I think that you'll really like the way that Wen makes your hair look. Smiley Happy

I think that the Wen model who has kinky salt & pepper hair (Rosanne, I think), likes to use the Tea Tree CC for her hair.

That said, rather than making more purchases right now, I'd suggest that you give your current Wen CCs a try and feel free to ask us any questions that your have.

I'd also recommend that you do two cleanses. The first one is to get the dirt and grime off of your hair (massage it into your hair/scalp for about one minute and then rinse it out). -- Then do a second cleanse keeping the CC on your hair/scalp for about 3-5 minutes. Then wash it out paying particular attention to cleansing it out of your scalp (for about one to one and a half minutes).

While you still in the shower put some fo the CC back into the part of your hair that is below your scalp line. -- Suggestions: up to one pump form a 16oz bottle and up to half a pump from a 32oz bottle.

Don't use a bath towel to dry your hair because it will rough up the hair cuticles. -- Instead, use an old 100% cotton T-shirt and just pat dry your hair with it.

Best of luck!! Smiley Happy

I received my first WEN and I do love it.    I was taken back by the scent, so strong and it made my eyes water.  I was afraid I'd be allergic but showering with it was no problem.  I'll have to try it a few times to be sure.

My hair is very clean, I used 5 pumps for the scalp area then another 5 pumps for my hair, which is a bit longer than shoulder length.    No problem rinsing it clean after my shower.   I could tell a difference right away and I had been using Pantene Cleansing conditioner, not shampoo previously.  I used the mandarin Italian fig.

Sunday I purchased & installed a new showerhead with a water filter built in, that's how serious I am about my hair.   I'm on municipal water & the pH is off.

If for whatever reason WEN does not work out for me, I will NEVER go back to shampoo.

@software, congrats!!! That's great that Wen worked so well the very first time you tried it. Smiley Happy

Mandarin Italian Fig (MIF) is a great choice to start out with... lol, though I'm a bit biased because it's my fave. Smiley Wink

The filter for your showerhead is a great idea as well.... it keeps that pesky chlorine away. Smiley Happy

btw, what type of hair do you have (baby fine, normal, or coarse/thick), and which CCs have you purchased?

Also, Chaz recommends that you pat dry your hair with an old 100% cotton T-shirt because terry cloth towels can rough up your hair cuticles.

I have very average hair.    It's not fine, not coarse, but it is dry as well as my scalp.  It's salt & pepper.   The gray is usually hard to manage but looks so shiny now, I love it.

I purchased the 16 oz duo, the MIF was one, I think the other is a bamboo something........name escapes me.

I have dogs so I when I replace sheets or towels, etc, I always "save" the old ones for the dogs.  I don't have any t-shirts but I do have a couple of worn out pillowcases.   I cut open one, wrapped my hair in it first, then wrapped in a towel to squeeze.

I washed my hair yesterday morning, when I went to bed it still smelled & felt good.   I can't imagine any of the CCs that I wouldn't like.   My next step will be to see how well it does with my scalp, which is so dry.    If I don't get enough relief with the CC, I will look into the oils.    Right now I'm using an Avon product, argan oil for hair.  It's ok, nothing exciting.

@software, it sounds as though the Mandarin Italian Fig (MIF) is a very good option to start out with for your dry hair. MIF is more moisturizing than most of the other CCs.

The Bamboo Green Tea (BGT) in this duo is also a great CC and one of the ones that I like most for my baby fine hair (although MIF is my clear favorite). -- I think it should work well for you.

Both the MIF and BGT are formulas in the rice-based Restorative line. -- Some of their additional special ingredients include: 11 amino acid complex, bamboo water and extra skin care ingredients.

Both of these formulas have the amino acid complex in them. In fact, all the lines except for the Classics and Wen Kids CCs have the amino acid complex in them.

I wanted to mention this because sometimes -- and some times over time -- the amino acid complex can begin to make hair feel straw-like or brittle. And that's because various hair types do well with different levels of amino acids (building blocks of protein) in them.

On the other hand my baby fine hair would like a Wen amino acid IV. I've never had an issue with brittle hair. Smiley Happy

I wanted to mention this in advance, just so you could be aware of this. -- I think the people who are most likely to have issues with this are folks who have thick/coarse hair... but it can vary. Smiley Happy

If that happens, some Wenners will just rotate the CCs with the amino acid complex in and out of their rotation, while others may stop using it. -- People also sometimes mix a CC with the amino acid complex in with another Wen CC that doesn't have the amino acid complex.

I also wanted to bring several other excellent value 3-packs to your attention which are in  other Wen CC lines:

* 3 summer Seasonals -- ($32.84 individually) - soy-based - amino acid complex - extra skin care ingredients -- $71.42

The product info and links are at the end of this post. -- You can either make a one time purchase, or choose the auto delivery option.

@software, enjoy your Wen adventure!!! Smiley Happy

@software Hi, Your hair sounds very much like mine except for the dryness, I tend more towards normal & sometimes oily. I like to cleanse everyday, the MIF & BGT (bamboo green tea) are 2 of my faves. I am also in love with 319 & many of the seasonals Smiley Very Happy

Since I cleanse everyday I do oil treatments about 5 times a week, sometimes overnight, sometimes for a few hours duing the day. There is a kit being offer now for 613 or 319 that contains the oil at a great price, my advice is go for the 319 Smiley Wink

@software, I believe looking into using some of WEN oils is an excellent idea! WEN CCs are great, but WEN oil treatments take hair and scalp to a different level, most definitely.

They seem to normalize the scalp, whether it's too dry or too oily - does not matter.

I do not believe in using oils on my face, which works for many. but can't even imagine not to use them as scalp treatments. I do at least two, or maybe three overnight oil treatments a week, since I cleanse my hair every other day.

Oils are quite expensive but WEN oils are the best! But if you look at WEN product page and see some kits with full size 4 oz bottles of oil in scents you like, it's usually a good deal to get an oil too. I think, there are Summer Seasonal Kits now available with 4 oz oil.
