@peanutjk wrote:I just started using WEN in May and haven't tried many of the products yet so I'm not sure which formulas work best for me. There have been a ton of crazy good deals lately, so I have been buying most of them just to get the chance to try a little bit of everything... Do these deals eventually stop, as my credit card is getting quite a workout! Should I keep trying to get the ODO offers or is there a better strategy to find out what works best for my hair? Thanks for any advice!!!!
Hi @peanutjk, welome to the Wen forum and the wenderful world of Wen!!!
The folks here are great and are really helpful, so feel free to ask as many questions as you would like.
We also have a live Wen Chat in the WEN June Chat thread coming up in a few minutes (at 4pm ET). -- If you're around I hope you'll join us.
I'll share some more info here, after the 4pm chat.
First off.... take a deep breath and slow down with you your purchases... don't break the bank.
We've seen some great deals... but there will be great deals all month long... in fact, all year long.
Also if you let us know a bit more about your hair type, we can probably give you more targeted advise:
* is your hair baby fine, standard thickness, thick/coarse?
* is your hair damaged or healthy?
* do you chemically process your hair? If so, then what process(es)?
* in an idea world, what would you like your hair care system to do to enhance your hair?
Your answers will help us give you more effective feedback.
Watch and/or DVR Chaz's Wen shows becasue he gives great advice on the shows!!
Welcome aboard!!!

Hi @peanutjk! Welcome to the forums! This is SUCH a great place to chat and learn. I have gotten SO MUCH great advice from these ladies. You are where you should be.
I have been where you are! I wanted everything, but also had to be budget minded. I found that studying the forums about the deals before purchase was VERY helpful for me. I read the reviews (in the forums as well as on the product), people's experiences, and the very helpful math that sweet @bebe777 often adds. I have learned quite a bit over time! I tend to err on the side of missing out on something rather than purchasing with uncertainty. That said, in ALL of my Wen purchases, I have only made one return (vts). Plus, while it isn't cheap, it is worth it and NOT cost prohibitive when I'm thoughtful about my purchases. The nice thing is new deals WILL come!
Sending you Wenderful results!!

Wow! You guys are awesome- I wasn't sure anyone would respond to my post
I have chin length fine/thin hair that is straight but gets pretty frizzy in the humidity! I haven't colored my hair in years so at this point there isn't any color treated hair left and I would not say its overly dry either. Prior to WEN, I used to shampoo every other day as my scalp is not too oily. I can not air dry my hair because it gets super flat and frizzy so I'm hoping that WEN can help with that!
I have tried WEN Kids Apple, Sweet Almond Mint, and Cucumber Aloe. I like the Kids and the SAM, but the CA made my hair look super frizzy. I have ordered all 3 summer CC's in 16 oz and got different ODO's with the peach oil, treatment mist, and mouse. Also ordered the ODO with the 3 classic scents...
Should I slow it down??? Haven't gotten any of the summer stuff delivered yet but I'm having a serious case of FOMO reading all of these threads

@peanutjk, one of the reasons that the Wen forum is so special is that Wenners always help each other out.
FYI, @Tribesters, I thought the information links toward the end of this post might be of interest to you.
I think that right now you have enough different Wen products to work with right now. -- One good thing is that you will be trying a number of the different CC lines so that you can figure out which product lines (Classic, Seasonal, Rice-based, etc.) work best for your hair.
____
Ok, @peanutjk, let's start out with what's in (and will soon be in) your Wen closet:
* Wen Kids Apple CC -- rice-based -- works well
* Classic CCs -- wheat-based -- SAM (ok), CA (frizzed hair),
* Classic CCs coming -- wheat-based -- TT, SAM, & LAV
* Summer Seasonal CCs coming -- soy-based, amino acid complex, extra skin care ingredients, honey complex for added moisture for hair -- SHP (most moisturizing), SMC (moisturizing) & SCLV
This part I'm not as clear on...
* Treatment Oil -- SHP
* Mousse -- SHP
* Replenishing Treatment Mist -- SHP
____
If you can swing it monetarily, I'd like to recommend one additional purchase because the rice-based Wen Kids formula worked so well for you.
It's the WEN by Chaz Dean Cleansing Cond. Duo with Rice Protein ($44.96) from the rice-based Restorative line. -- the duo includes the Mandarin Italian Fig CC (which is my "go to" CC) and the Bamboo Green Tea CC (which was my "go to" CC before they came out wiht the MIF).
You and I both have baby fine hair and from the little I read, I think that our hair probably likes some of the same CCs.
This Restorative duo is essentially Wen Kids Apple with added special ingredients: bamboo water which gives the hair flexible strength, 11 amino acid complex to strengthen fine hair, and extra skin care ingredients.
The reason I'm recommending that you purchase this duo now is that id hasn't been available for many months. -- This duo was how I got introduced to the Restorative line. Since each of these 16oz CCs sells for about $33 at QVC, this is a great deal.
Other than this duo, right now I'd recommend that you don't make any other purchases.... and if something sounds crazy good.... then just start a thread and ask for feedback about it.
___
For myself, these are the Wen products I regularly use:
* Cleansing Conditioner
* Styling Creme* -- you may want to pick up this if there is a special offer... maybe
* Mousse
* Treatment Oil
* Remoist (hold off on that for now)
* Styling Creme helps hold moisture in your hair and also protects it from the heat of your blow dryer. -- It helps reduce the frizz factor.
These are the main "go to" products for a lot of Wenners, although not everyone uses all of these products.
___
I know there are some threads about Wenners post-cleanse "leave-in" routines which should be helpful. Every one of us has our own method. -- I'll try to find one of these threads in the next few days so you can look through it.
___
Your Weducation
WEN: What Cleansing Conditioner Did You Use Today? -- I'd recommend that you read this thread daily because, after reading it for a few weeks, you'll slowly get a much better sense of how Wenners use their post cleanse, leave in styling products. -- Of course, you can read through the volumes of older posts but don't overwhelm yourself. -- Just reading the daily new posts will get you up to speed.
DVR all of Chaz's shows this month -- the very first post in the Wen gallonpalooza schedule 5/29 - 6/30 per Dooters thread has Chaz's approximate schedule for June -- Each day I post the show listings for the next few days. -- Chaz gives very helpful demos of the styling products in these shows.
Wen FAQ - the key Wen links -- I created this thread to help new Wenners get a better understanding of all things Wen. Just take your time and slowly read through it. There are a number of hot links in it that will take you to other threads which have more information on particular topics. -- I also created Wen 101 thread which is more comprehensive... but harder to wade through (and is in serious need of a major overhaul update). That said, on the second page there are links to a number of threads that will tell you more about individual styling products. -- lol, but start by reading the Wen FAQ so you don't get overwhelmed.
Wen Abbreviations Glossary -- this list what all the different Wen acronyms stand for.

Let me know if this information is helpful or if you need any clarification about it.
Best of luck on your wenderful Wen journey to your best hair days!!!

@bebe777 Thank you for all the info! I think I will grab the 2 CC's you talked about- from what I've read from your posts on other threads, I think we might have similar hair. I forgot I also have the texturizing spray coming in the Green Tea so I can have a CC scent to match that too

@Kjelle wrote:@Ms X @HSB1204 we have all had our own journey with WEN. I still think a newbie should try remoist and see if it works for them. I would not go without my remoist. I love it and obviously many others do as well, hence the big 8oz size being begged for and being sold periodically. So @peanutjk will need to make up her own mind. It really depends on what type of hair she has in the end. @HSB1204 And I are both AA, and have totally different experiences with remoist.
I agree. We all have different hair types and the re-moist may work better for some than others. I am not AA. I just have thin, fine hair that tends to be fairly dry and I think the oils work better for me.
@HSB1204 Hilarious! How did I get that idea??? Just makin' stuff up, I guess!

@Kjelle and @HSB1204, lol, I got a chuckle out of that one too.
I love the Wen forum but sometimes there's so much information floating around that I get my wires crossed and all mixed up. -- I can't seem to think of any of my crossed wires observations right now, but there have been a few and they always made me giggle.

@Kjelle Not sure but I think our hair is about as different as hair can be.
