  @Scullychick , see the three dots in the upper right corner of your post?

That's a menu. Tap it to reveal your options. In most cases there is a delete option. (It's slooow, but it works.)

If the delete isn't there you can always use the edit option to remove something or add to your post.

PS: you don't see the same menu choices if you tap someone else's post.

You can only edit your own.

@Hedge @There is no choice for delete in the options. There is an edit button, and I open that but it doesn't allow you to delete.
funny though, I came to edit this post and it allows me to delete it if I want. It must be that no one responded to it yet?

    @Scullychick

 Yes, tapping the reply button in someone's post engages the quote option in the new message, while it disables the delete in the one you're replying to.

Your reply to their post also shows on the other person's profile page.

The red reply button at the top of the thread should be used unless you're replying to a specific post, and need the quote.

To delete when the delete option is gone:

 You can simply edit out your words and leave it there as an empty post with no content.

  I know one poster removes her words and leaves a little picture.

  I cut the words and leave
