I just received my March TSV and was excited to try the Restorative Finishing Treatment Spray.  Shockingly, it's got the greenhouse gas, hydroflourocarbon (HFAs) in it.

I'm sending the whole kit back.

I thought of keeping the kit because I LOVE the CCs and styling lotion.  I use them all the time and my hair has never been better.  Also, it is a great value.   But I feel like I need to take a stand and actually return the whole thing in order to express my outrage.

I'm really disappointed in Chaz.  I thought he was more aware and environmentally conscious than this.

I thought Chaz would only use the best ingredients too but maybe there is no alternative to get the spray treatment to function...or maybe that one slipped by him.

The ingrediant is Hydrofluorocarbon 152a which looks likes its different than Hydrofluorocarbon which is in the artical you posted.

Hydrofluorocarbon 152a (HFC-152a) is an aerosol propellant containing no chlorine atoms, and, as such, falls completely outside concerns about stratospheric ozone destruction by chlorofluorocarbons or other chlorinated hydrocarbons. It has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has found it is not a volatile organic compound (VOC), i.e., it has negligible photochemical reactivity (55 FR 11418). The registered trademark of Chemours for HFC- 152a is HP 152a.

Hi,

I'm glad that you brought up different information.  It looks like I need to investigate this more before i make my decision.

I haven't had a lot of time to research it, but it appears that ozone impact and greenhouse gas are referring to two different things, and the article you posted only refers to ozone.  Also, your article was put out by Chemours, which appears to be the manufacturer of hydroflourocarbon 152a.

Looks like I need to go deeper into this before I make a decision.

I sure hope it's a harmless compound so I can keep my March TSV guilt free!  As I said before, it's such a great bargain, I hate to give it up!

Try emailing Chaz' customer service with your question. They're pretty good at responding and should address your question.

@Tracy500

I agree that doing your research before posting is a good idea.

I've noticed you seem to have many issues with WEN.

So sorry, no product works for every one.

Best wishes finding the best product for your hair!  Smiley Happy

@Tracy500 next time you might want to read the ingredients BEFORE you order- that might help you avoid so many costly returns and, of course, waste. I always do and avoid purchasing items that contain ingredients I have an issue with. I've passed up several WEN items because they contain ingredients I like to avoid but I've passed up thousands of other brands/items because of ingredients.

Hairspray shock? Please! Why? Ingredients were posted to be checked out for this product. If you don't like any of them, there was no pressure to buy the product only to take your "stand" and in order to express your "outrage" and disappointment.

Environmental and any other kind of conscious awareness lays with ourselves first and foremost, and can not be forced onto others, unless the ingredient is forbidden for use by law.
