@Bridgegal

Good news!  Amtrak just announced the Northeast Corridor will be receiving 28 new, high speed trains, starting 2018!  They will replace the current ACELA trains and are designed to go over 160 MPH.

I've always dreamed of traveling the country by rail.

Good news indeed.  I have not been impressed with the present ACELA service.  The tracks are old in the NE so even the best of trains have limitations.

Recently it was discussed the possiblity of  high-speed-hyperloop-tubes

between Chicago-Columbus-Pittsburgh!  I grew up in the Chicago area and

have family still there so would love to see this happen. Now living in Pittsburgh.
