Do you go to Maine, NH or the upper penisula of Michigan to observe the colors?

I live in CT where we have beautiful foliage to peep at, right around us...but years ago, several times, we'd drive up to Vermont and stay for the weekend...was always a nice fall getaway, and it was pretty to see more mountainous foliage views, old country stores etc. Also parts of Massachusetts too we'd go to.
We will often take some kind of fall drive, whether to local spots in CT at its peak, or other nearby New England states. Upstate New York is beautiful at that time too. 🍂 🎃 🍁

A few years ago I went to New Hampshire in mid October. I was a little late for leaves. I was told that most things shut down right after Columbus day. We went on a scenic train ride around Lake Winnipesaukee on the last day it was running for the season.

We leaf peep across the street at our house here in metro Denver.
We'll also take a drive up to the mountains sometime next month or early October.

Michigan's UP is a short drive for us and we usually stay on the shores of Lake Superior .
Planning a fall trip when it cools off. Haven't been this summer as the heat was almost as bad as Northern MI and the smoke from Canadian wildfires was pretty intense.
A likely excuse to pick up some Mackinac Island fudge along the way. 😉

It would be fun to go to New England in the fall but we haven't done that.
I'm in Bucks County, PA which is SE of the state and has a lot of rural areas with lots of beautiful fall foliage. What we do some years is drive a route and see the Bucks County covered bridges in the fall. There are a dozen covered bridges in rural and scenic spots in the county and it's a fun thing to do.
