Weather in May in Amsterdam....

We are traveling to Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, London and Dublin for 2 1/2 weeks in May 1.  Looks like the weather forcasts show average temps to be 65/48 in all countries.  Has anyone been to any of these places at this time?  I don't want to pack unecessary clothing!

Re: Weather in May in Amsterdam....

I have been lucky enough to travel to many countries. Before I start packing,  I just Google it. Put in " Weather in Amsterdam  in May",  and it will show webstes that show a lot of information.

I just returned from Cambodia where it was 92 every day, and returned to Chicago the night it was -2. That was an unpleasant surprise!

For sure, bring a trench coat and small umbrella!

@bargainsgirl

What a wonderful trip.  I have been to all those places in the spring.  You can encounter beautiful, sunny weather one day, then chilly, rainy weather the next.

My suggestion is layering.  Most definitely you need a water resistant jacket.  I've found if it has a hood, you do not need an umbrella.

Have a great time.  Hopefully you'll catch the end of tulip time in Amsterdam.

The weather can be wonderful and can be rainy. Take all the gear with you.

But it is the best time to go because they display the tulips at their amazing Kuekenhof Park. DO NOT MISS IT ! It is the best thing about Amsterdam in my opinion.

Enjoy!

Re: Weather in May in Amsterdam....

I have been to all of those locations. They are wonderful places to visit. I agree with others who say you should bring a raincoat, shoes that can stand the rain, and a small umbrella. All I can say is I have never been so cold as I was in Holland and Belgium in spring. I can add that I understand why the Irish say there are 50 shades of green. It rains constantly and the grass proves it. France can be rainy and cold or hot and dry. You need to be prepared for any and every eventuality. Bon voyage!

Re: Weather in May in Amsterdam....

I have learned to pack a couple of Tshirts in case of unexpected warm weather.  We were in London in mid-May 2016 and it was very warm and humid our first 2 days.  I bought a linen shirt at Marks & Spencer on the first day to get through the next. It cooled down and we only had 2 days of light rain in a 2 week trip to the UK.
