Tulip Festival in Seattle in April

hello everyone!! Has anyone ever visited and toured the tulip Fleids outside of Seattle during their festival months?? I would love to go, but would have to go by myself, husband doesnt want to do the drive between Montana and Washington state, for fear of getting into any bad weather. Is it diffiucult driving in Seattle to Mount Vernon area where the fields are located?? I hate driving in cities that I am not familiar with and with a rental car as well. Any suggestions?? MJ

I go every year, but I'm in Tacoma...Well worth your time and effort, though! If you're coming from Montana, you'll want to check out the pass reports - this weekend was bad with lots of snow! But driving from Seattle to Mt. Vernon should be a smooth drive! Enjoy - rain or shine, it's great!

Re: Tulip Festival in Seattle in April

We do go down to the fields in Mount Vernon, Washington only 30 minutes away from us quite often. Sorry I can't be more helpful on the travel side as we always go early in the morning or later in the day. But, we sure hear about the traffic jams coming up from the Seattle area when the tulips are in full bloom, especially weekends.

In fact, I was down at the fields yesterday morning and several daffodil fields are in various stages of bloom. One or two in full bloom and the rest starting to show color. Snow geese and trumpeter swans dotted the fields and a rainbow or two appeared briefly. It was a Magic Skagit kind of morning and absolutely no traffic.

Popped by Roozengaarde Garden shop to see what goodies they have this year and small family-run store called Schuh Farms in the area. The Roozengaarde website has a bloom map to check out the progress of their flower fields, but you may be already aware. Drove by Tulip Town and they appear to be in full swing getting parking areas and signage in place.

Safe travels and enjoy your time in tiptoeing through the fields.
