I don't come to Travel often, but I'm glad I did.
Your pictures are wonderful and I so admire your adventurous spirit. I'm impressed you will travel alone and have so meticulously planned your trip.
Have you always done this kind of thing?
I ask because I cannot imagine doing anything like this. I don't think I would ever have the nerve!
There are many live cameras around the world, and one that I love to check is Abu Dhabi. An amazing place!
Looking forward to the rest of your trip!
Wanted to add that your kitties are beautiful!

To answer your question, no, I have not always done this. We never really traveled when I was young. I did a bit more in my 20’s, but that was to places like NYC, Vegas, Mexico/Caribbean, or Disney World. A few were solo trips, but most were not. As I got older and ventured to some European destinations, I found that I kept trying to cater to what the other people I was traveling with may want to do and didn’t think about myself. So, when my mother said she was no longer going to travel and when the months kept ticking by with me not doing anything, I finally decided to join a group tour as a solo traveler. And the rest, as they say, is history. Now I see so many solo girls traveling the globe by themselves and I’m sorry it took so long for me to finally do it!
I’m really not that adventurous. I try to know what I’m doing, how to get there, the safety of the area, etc, in advance. Things still may go wrong, but I also don’t usually take any big risks either. In fact, I’m probably missing out on a lot because of that! But, I’m happy with the way I’m doing things because at least I’m going!
And, thank you! My city kitties are beautiful and, even better, really like each other! I have a sitter that comes daily when I’m gone and sends me emails with how they’re doing.

After the mosque, we drove around a bit, getting out of the car occasionally.
This area is fully run by solar or other renewable energy sources. See the solar panels on the lights?
You will note that there isn’t much paint used and that the wood is plain. This is deliberate as to not leave too much of a carbon footprint.
I may have misunderstood my guide, but I think he said that all of Abu Dhabi wants to run on alternative means by 2030 (just don’t quote me on that!)

Some interesting painted buildings in the area.

The next post is dedicated to @PINKdogWOOD
@PINKdogWOOD will probably be staying at the Viceroy Hotel when she goes! 😊
Why you ask? Because it’s one of the few hotels in the world built ON a race course!
Of course, she may also be staying on a yacht next to the course as well.
These next two photos are taken outside on the Johnny Rockets’ deck.

We passed by Yas Water World
And I saw that Warner Brothers is opening a new location later this summer
This was as we were on our way to
But, here is where I cheaped our. I didn’t want to pay to go in for just 20/30 minutes! LOL So, these are as far in as I got!
Ferrari World is attached to a mall. I saw a lot of commonly known chain restaurants like Chili’s and Bucca di Beppo.
This is the worlds fastest roller coaster- 1 Formula Rossa going 150 MPH. Not the tallest nor goes upside down. But it’s very very fast!!

We drove by a few more locations prior to stopping for (a late) lunch.
I asked my guide where he recommended I should stay if I returned and he recommended Saadiyat Island. It’s a little out of the way (is where the Louvre is.) He brought me to his recommended hotel to have a look around - a nice relaxing oasis on the beach.
We drove by the Iranian market - THE place to go if you want to barbecue.
Finally, he wanted to show me the fish market. The Arabian Sea certainly produces some large fish!

I had my choice of where to go to lunch - someplace quick or sit down. I treated my guide (and apparently some guy that manages his building) to an authentic Arabian lunch.
You sit on the floor and a plastic sheet is put in the middle. My table was actually behind curtains and you would push a button to get your server. It was very good - and I fed three for less than any of my other meals in my hotel!! (My guide took home the doggy bag for his friend.)
