Since it is domestic why not travel on your own if the tipping bothers you?

Maybe they are too old to drive or feel with a group

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

I have no issue with tipping if I’ve enjoyed the trip & service

I'm going on a European river cruise in a few weeks and called to ask about a few things.  One of them was tipping tour guides.

I was told it was common to tip 3 Euros each per person for the guide and another 2 Euros for the driver.

@haddon9 I've been on many European cruises and depending on the company you are traveling with many times the tipping is already included for guides.  Just make sure you check with your particular company as it differs with each.   I mostly travel with Tauck and all tipping is included even the hotel bellhops if it applies and drivers for airport transfers.

Enjoy your cruise!

Usually you get documents before a river cruise & it goes into tipping. Land tours, tipping is usually not included, river cruises usually include tips but it’s spelled out in your documents.

Of course we understand tipping. We are experienced travelers and generous in compensating service persons.

There have been several discussions about tippping in general but this specific topic about tipping travel staff has just arisen. We previously traveled with Tauck. I was surprised that our pre-travel information indicated that we should plan for $10.00 director and $7.00 driver tip per day- per person. It was not phrased as a suggested amount but rather as an expected amount. It also indicates that arrival days and departure days are considered travel days. This is a back handed way of saying we expect a tip every day- not just exploring days.

Some trips include gratituity-some do not. Some recommend and amount--some do not. My purpose of posting the topic was just discussing the topic.

Many are expressing that tippping has become a expected process of every sort of business. It is no longer a thank you gesture. I am not "bothered" by the act of tippping. I was just sharing with this community another example of this tipping maddness.
