I was going to recommend Door County. I like Lake Geneva,  but Door County has my heart. Considered the Cape Cod of the Midwest, I  think it would be a perfect (safe) place for two women traveling alone--great shops, restaurants, scenery and of course the lake which is like an ocean.

@magicmoodz Yes!!! And its just as magical and beacutiful in the Fall as well. We are planning a family trip there next fall-it willbe beautiful and a little less crowded!!!!
