Re: Suggestion for San Francisco's (or any city's) sidewalk issues

Read the article and agree with many of the points.  As urban areas are gentrified, lack of affordable housing and conflicts over who has a right to urban spaces, will spread and has spread.  Note the conflicts that are occuring in Brooklyn, NYC, Chicago's Humboldt Park, and other areas that are similar to what is occuring in San Francisco.

I have been to San Francisco many times and what bothers me most, are the people that are obviously in need of housing, food, healthcare, and drug/alcohol treatment and I wonder why we can't help our fellow citizens.  I know that some will argue that it is their fault, private and government programs don't work, and these are intractable problems. Still, I have to hope that we can find some solutions.

Has anyone actually read the article (except for the OP)?

No, it's too long.
