Spent last week in NYC.......

and the weather was gorgeous.  Low 80s, partly cloudy and a nice breeze.  Spent 6 days there.

We went last September and saw Bette Midler in Hello, Dolly.  We decided to see it again this time with Bernadette Peters.  Both are icons and it was nice to see both ladies bring their own qualities to the role but I liked Bette better.

Our main reason for the trip was going to see  THE HEAVENLY BODIES exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum .  We went the first day to the Cloisters (which is part of the museum complex) north west of the city and the second day at the main building on 5th AVE.  I loved how they incorporated the fashions within the museum itself.  Some fashions were extreme, some simple,  but overall was it simply breath taking.

We got to be in the audience of The View.  The studio set is so much smaller in person than on television.

One unexpected surprise when we were walking was coming upon The Downtown Abbey exhibit.  I had no idea it was in NYC.  Being huge fans of the show we excitedly entered.  Lots of props and clothing were on display from the series.  We ended up spending almost 3 hours there.  It was very well done.  From what I understand it is a traveling exhibit.  I would highly recommending seeing it if it comes anywhere close to your location.

Other than that, our days were spent just walking (averaging 18,000 steps per day) enjoying the city sights.  Did some shopping and of course eating.  When it came to lunch or dinner I would open up the trip adviser app and see what was close.  Never disappointed with trip adviser and we had some delicious eats.

I love these kind of trips.  We had a couple things scheduled to do and see but most of the trip was just "go with the flow".  So relaxing.

@CoffeeNut Sounds like a wonderful time!

I don't recall ever seeing a Broadway Show, so to see Bette Midler in Hello, Dolly last year and return to see it again, this time with Bernadette Peters, would be high on my list of great things done!

Have not heard of the Heavenly Bodies exhibit at the Met Museum. Sounds very interesting.

That is great that you got to be a part of a live audience taping of a TV program. Many, many moons ago, I went to see Merv Griffen's tapings (several times) and once with Johnny Carson. Always exciting to see the behind-the-scenes activities. I remember having to stand in line a very long time to get in; was that the case with you?

Seeing the exhibit of Downton Abbey would have been a highlight for me. Smiley Happy

Great exercise you got.....18,000 steps/day. Hope you had some very comfortable shoes.

Thanks for the report!

Re: Spent last week in NYC.......

@World Traveler

Anna Wintour helps organize a yearly fashion exhibit at The Met.  This year it is Heavenly Bodies which is "fashion and the catholic imagination"  from the couture fashion houses. The attention to detail on some of the dresses was mind blowing.

We stood outside for The View taping for about 30 minutes then they took us inside to a seated waiting area for about 90 minutes then they escorted us to the studio.  I really did not pay much attention to the hosts while taping.  We were seated behind one of the cameras and I was too busy watching how they were putting the show together behind the scenes.

 How exciting for you to see Merv and Johnny.  Those are the icons of the talk show industry.
