@SilleeMee wrote:Did you ever ride the Royal Gorge tram? That's pretty scary, too. When the wind blows it gets to swaying back and forth. When I went on that tram there was a nun in the car with us and she was doing the sign of the cross the entire time.
I've been to the Royal Gorge and waited in the car while my relatives looked around. Did the same on the Taos Gorge Bridge. I hate deep ditches.

when I lived there I was too afraid to go until friends from out of town made me. I'm afraid of heights but the cars are big enough that you can stand in the middle and not be tempted to look down. Coming back down it was OK because it was dark.

We have been on the tram in Palm Springs several times. While it is awe inspiring it gets scarier for me each time I do it. Don't know why I do???!!!

I didn't know I had an issue with heights until I was on the top of what was formerly the John Hancock Center in Chicago. I wanted to get as close to the windows as possible to see my city.

But the strangest thing happened. My legs froze and my feet seemed to be stuck to the floor -- I couldn't even take a step.
My mind was telling me I had to get closer to the windows for a better view while my body was telling me that it was just not going to happen.
I was twelve at the time.
Decades later I moved to Albuquerque and not only did I get on the tram, but I was part of a hot air balloon crew for a short time.
Weirdest thing. I felt comfortable in the balloon, floating over Albuquerque (and Pagosa Springs, Colorado on another occasion), with no sense of "height."
Mountain roads remain an entirely different story, of course.

@Kachina624 Could you Watch the thunderstorm while you were up there? I would have been glued to the windows to see a storm like that from that vantage point!

@candys mine. Yes, we were in a big park service building with windows all around. Many kids, of course, but the rangers had coloring books and crayons ready.

My friends and I have included Sandia Tram on plans when they visit New Mexico State and Balloon Festival.

Being a bit afraid of heights I was talked into taking this tram. I stayed in the middle of the car and only occasionally looked out to see animals roaming in the mountains. Nice experience but I was glad when we were back on the ground.
