@GingerHead. You were on the famous Million Dollar Highway, rated one of the most dangerous in the USA.

Oh wow, I can believe it!

Last time we were on that road was during the winter with snow and ice!

I was literally white knuckling it, near tears and praying to anyone who could hear me (and I'm not a religious woman, haha) terrified the whole time! Really, really terrifying......

Will wait for the summer! Smiley Happy

It is a must visit! Gorgeous, but be prepared for the drive.... it is no joke. I would rec going when the roads are good and dry!

I really do miss living in Colorado at this time of the year.  But don't miss the white stuff falling from the sky Smiley Happy

I had a place in Westcliffe, CO.  Lived in Littleton.

My DH is a skier, and too often I have to go to Colorado in the Winter in heavy snow and ice.  The drive to Keystone is terrifying--high cliffs with long drops, and just a thin barrier.

One time we were driving at night to Vail (or Breck) and saw a herd of elk on the highway--several cars had smashed, one car was upside down, and there were dead and wounded elk lying all over the place.

Even taking a shuttle or a bus is not necessarily safer!

Yes, Colorado is stunningly beautiful--but overall I prefer the beach to mountains, ha-ha.

Whoa! That crash with the elk sounds terrible!

Even though snow + icy roads + mountains can = scary at times I still prefer the mountains over the beach....

pale redhead (me) + beach + sunshine = disaster! haha
