a senior citizen can travel domestically on an expired drivers license? As far as using it for their ID to check in? Thanks!!!!!!!

No, I don't think so but can't they get a renewal ID at the drivers license office?
I don't know of any place, travel or not, that would accept an expired ID of any kind.
But I don't know everything!

There is a limit on how long after the expiration date that you can still renew it without retaking the driver's test. In Ohio, I think it's either 30 or 60 days. If the person no longer drives, shouldn't they just get a state ID?
Just as an FYI, at the college where I work, they would accept any picture ID as identification, even if it was expired.

No, you cannot. Your ID must be valid, and an expired license is considered invalid.
It would be best to get a picture ID card from your driver's license dept.

When my elderly mom moved in with me (from a neighboring state), one of the first things we did was to get her a picture ID.

Thank-you all. A state ID is what the website said to get for her as well. Appreciate those who answered!

Actually, you CAN travel domestically with an expired license.
AS LONG AS IT HAS BEEN LES THAN 12 MONTHS SINCE EXPIRATION.
For example, Betty Smith's licence expired June of this year.
Betty can still travel domestically. She would be asked if she had other forms of i.d. (bills, prescription bottles, credit cards, insurance cards, checks, etc).
It is even possible to travel domestically with NO i.d.
A call is made, questions are asked, a form is filled out, and extra screening is done on the person and their accessible property.
I should know.
I work in an airport, and see this happen all the time.

@Plaid Pants2 You work in an airport? WOW! You should give a list of what to do and what not to do at the airport. No THAT would be interesting. Bet you see a lot of interesting people and things happening.

I’ve always wondered what would happen if my driver’s license were lost or stolen while traveling before needing to fly home. Good to know I could still get home!

My nephew had his wallet stolen while traveling in La s Vegas. We drove his mother and him to airport the day before to find what he needed to do. He was interviewed, as was his mother, had to fill out a form and the next day got on the plane without any issues. The airport security told us this happens many times weekly.
