Has anyone been to Punta Gorda Florida? We are thinking about doing a trip there middle of October. Any suggestions?

My MIL used to live there. It's a small town, not much going on - 2-3 restaurants, no beaches. Not sure what you's do there on a vacation.

I have lived in the area for 31 years.   My advise would be to stay on Englewood Beach and do a day trip to Punta Gorda visiting Fisherman's Village with it's restaurants and shops.   Of  course if you have a  time share at Fisherman's Village go ahead and book and do day trips to the beach, Myakka River State Park,  Solomon's Castle, Ringling Museum of Art, Mote Marine, etc.

@Miss Shelly, I agree with this.  I have visited Punta Gorda while in Florida but it was a day trip for me.  LM
