Re: People Over 70 Exempt From New European Visa Fee!

@Sooner . Visa fees are new; currently no Visa is required for Americans to visit most European countries.

Europe is trying to keep their countries safer.  I suppose the very young...kids and the older people pose less of a threat.

@Sooner   I believe that.  I know I would never cross you.  You're a force to be reckoned with and one sweet lady.

Re: People Over 70 Exempt From New European Visa Fee!

Just in last week have I read that Visas will be required for some travel.  Here I read its a requirement by EU.  I really need to read up on why, who, what agency, etc.  This sounds so bizarre.

Doesn't affect me in the least.  After traveling for the past 50+ (so glad we did it when we were young and the world was safer) we have no intention of ever going overseas again.

On my first trip abroad in 1982 I have vivid memories of guards or police in Italy holding large automatic weapons.  I had never seen anything like that in the US (at that time).  I went to Paris in 1986 and had to get a Visa because of bombings they had recently had.  There were several IRA bombings with loss of life in England in the 1970s. Perhaps it's cyclical or perhaps we just don't remember the bad news events so much as time goes on.
