Husband is going to The Fairgrounds for an event in January.  I've decided to tag along.  I'm not interested in going to the event with him, so I thought during the day perhaps go into downtown Nashville (never been there).  I don't think my husband would mind driving to the event at The Fairgrounds but I don't think he wants to be too far.  I don't want to be in a hotel all day with nowhere to go.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Your hotel concierge can help you plan sightseeing, events, shopping, etc.

If it were me, I'd rather go to the Fairgrounds with my husband than walk around downtown Nashville by myself.  I'm not saying it isn't safe, but when we were there a few years ago, it was so, so crowded in that area.  Honestly, it was just one bar after the other with loud country music (not really my thing).  It was fun for a day or two and certainly different than what I'm used to, but I wouldn't want to do it alone.

We ate at Luke Bryan's place.  Food was good!

You could always visit the Grand Ole Opry.  I'm sure there is lots to do there that I didn't get to see on my quick 3 day visit.

Any hotel recommendations?  Somewhere inbetween downtown Nashville and where The Fairgrounds are?

@ScrapHappy I recommend staying in the downtown area.  The fairgrounds are very close, so I'd simply recommend taking an uber to the fairgrounds (10-15 min Uber ride and that is including traffic). There are not really hotels around the fairgrounds; the downtown area (loosely defined) is your best bet. You should be sure to walk around Broadway and 2nd Avenue. You're going to have a blast!

If you want specific hotel recs, I'd suggest the Marriott or Grand Hyatt if money isn't a factor. If it were me, I'd stay in The Hampton Inn (there are a couple....one right in the heart of downtown and another still downtown called "Capitol View," which would be my personal pick.

The Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center is a beautiful place to stay.  I don't know where the Fairgrounds are, but from what I googled it seems to be about 17 miles away.

We're having a big corporate meeting there in November.  I've been there before and it's wonderful.  Also been to the Gaylords in Dallas and Orlando.  They're a great place to stay.

@Tori3569   Well, won't that be fun?  I would imagine November is a great time of year to be in Nashville.  Enjoy it!

I've never been to Dallas, but it's on my bucket list!

I'd love to tell you it will be fun, but we're in on Monday with meetings and then dinner, all day meetings on Tuesday and out on Wednesday after lunch.  The only fun will be Tuesday night with a big party, but it's way too many people for me, lol.

I love Dallas, it's my favorite place in Texas.
