So many things on the terrific itinerary that I have yet to do, even though I have lived here for many, many years!
But I have been to Dallas BBQ. Lots of fun, good food and right in the heart of 42nd St!

There are so many great restaurants in nyc. They seem to be taking you to typical tourist restaurants. On your time off go into restaurants off your tour. Much better. I hate to say this, being a lover of New York, but keep your possessions close and do not take any valuable jewelry. Too bad you cannot see a Broadway show, my favorite NY thing to do. Have fun.

@OKPrincess You do have a packed itinerary, just make sure you have comfortable walking shoes/sneakers. Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is located right in the Times Square area (Midtown). Any of the shrimp dishes are good, and if you like jambalya or gumbo that's a good option too. You said you have time at lunch to pick your own places to eat. If you like Italian food, Carmines Restaurant on W44th St, (Times Square area) or Tony's Di Napoli on W43 St (Times Square area) or Becco's on W45th St (Times Square area.)
Like others have mentioned, seeing NYC during the holiday months in all its decorated splendor(late November through the month of December) is a wonderful experience. Getting to see a Broadway show is also something special. So, maybe a future trip to plan.
Have a wonderful trip, take lots of pictures to share and most of all enjoy!

@ciao_bella @OKPrincess Great recommendations.
The entrees at Carmine's are very large. They are meant for sharing.
Becco is one of Lydia Bastianich's restaurants. They have a Pasta Sampler with 3 kinds of Pasta.
It's very good.

@AuntG wrote:Sounds like great fun @OKPrincess. My DH and I talk about doing some bus trips. We joke about having bathroom issues just about when it's time to board and I don't care for bus potties.
@AuntG They stop every 2-3 hours for bathroom breaks since most of the riders are seniors.
What we like is being dropped off close to the front door. Pretty awesome experience.

Surprising that a planned trip to NYC does not include a Broadway show, that would be first thing on my to do list.

Welcome to my neck of the woods! From your list of restaurants I see you will be in my neighborhood.
Make sure you try the bagels when you are here. Essa Bagel or Brooklyn Bagels are a terrific choice.
At the South St, Seaport...check out Fraunces Tavern.
Greenwich Village/ Chelsea check out the Highline and Chelsea Market. I know the buses definitely stop there.
Have a great time 👍 and be careful 👀 out there. Enjoy!
I'm not sure where we'll have free time but we will do our best to soak everything in.

Sounds like a great trip!! Like others have said, wear comfortable shoes! Also, keep a light sweater with you because although it will be very hot outside, the a/c is usually on full blast indoors.

@PickyPicky3 wrote:@OKPrincess The weather prognosticators have warned that wildfires smoke might be an issue for the upper midwest and northeast at any time through the end of summer.
If this would be an issue for you, you should definitely pack n95 or kn95 masks. You wouldn't want to get stuck in your hotel.
We've been worried about the smoky conditions but the tour leader has us pack masks 😷 since the pandemic in case we need them. DH has asthma and COPD so it could be problematic for him. But we have many masks thanks to Medicare? issuing them.

That's great to hear. I'll try to get as many photos as possible. Remember in the olden days when we had to buy lots of film!!
