DH and I travelled to Cancun last May.  We never felt unsafe at all, in fact, the protocols that were used during our stay at the hotel, restaurants, cabs and airport were doing a fabulous job of all health precautions.  We are planning on a return visit this May.

Every year (except last year) I visit my mother in S Florida.  I'm going again this April and yes I'm a bit nervous about flying but will do my best.  I meet up with my brother and we have done side trips like Disney and visiting the west coast in the past.  This year we will skip those trips and just visit with mom but take her out (outdoor dining) to eat.

My last big trip was in Sept. of 2018.  We went with extended family (DH and adult kids, with in-laws & cousins)...there were 12 of us on a private tour of Ireland.

We had a fabulous time and went to many touristy spots but since I had never been it was wonderful!  The coastal scenery was breathtaking and our tour guide was so much fun!  We got to spend two nights in a gorgeous castle and I enjoyed the music, dancing & people....wish we  could go back!

We were supposed to go to southern Spain last June but of course that didn't happen.

Our last trip was December, 2019.  We spent 10 days in Switzerland and northern Italy.  Looking back, it was especially lovely.  Little did we know what was in store for us.

We had 2 trips already booked for 2020, one in April and one in December. (my 70th birthday)  Needless to say, neither "took" off.  Hopefully we will be able to take the trip rebooked for December 2021.

Our 50th anniversary is in June.  My husband usually surprises me with a mystery destination.  I fear, like last year, this year will be a staycation once again.

Spoiler

Need to update my last trip post.

I just returned from a wilderness safari...in Florida.  It was a group tour that started in Fort Myers and made its way down to Key West, with stops at Marco Island and Key Largo. My previous trips to Florida were to go to Disney or to get on a cruise ship, so was interesting to see a wilder side of the state. Went to many state parks and one of the least accessible National Parks in the lower 48. Since I don't swim, I probably didn't get the most out of every experience, but I enjoyed the trip, even if I was only relaxing on the boat.  Although everyone on the tour was fully vaccinated, we had covid protocols in place (daily temperature checks and mask wearing when in enclosed spaces, etc.). I also didn't find Florida to be the free-for-all that I had feared it would be.  Masks were required in stores and when walking around parts of the hotels and restaurants.  I also appreciated the mask mandate in the airports and on the planes; happy to hear it was extended to mid September.

Unfortunately, I won't do a separate trip report as it's such a sensitive subject.  Some photos in the spoiler below if anyone is interested.

We had two opportunities to kayak.  I had never done so before, but as we were only in three feet of water, kayaking through the mangroves, I wanted to do it.  Through no fault of my own (blame a pileup in front of me), I was the only one who ended up in the water!!  LOL I did not go on the 2nd kayaking experience as the water started out a little choppier and in 7 feet of water.
