It depends on your insurance do you need a referral to see a specialist, if not start out with an orthopedist.

about 2 years ago, my whole family were flying out of JFK to Cancun. 5 adults and 3 teenage boys. Needless to say because my brother cannot be ontime for anything, we arrived at the airport later than planed. Long lines were everywhere, From checking in to security it was a nightmare. as we huddled around looking for the shortest line, we heard someone say we needed a wheelchair and I was pushed down to sit in one. The sky cap ran us all through checkin and security in record time and we made our plan with time to spare. Everyone else in the family had trouble keeping up because they were laughing so hard. Needless to say we tipped the guy over $50 and it was well worth it.
On another flight I had hurt my foot and when I got off the plane I flagged down one of those golf cart things. There was no charge but I gave her $5-10 for the convenience.

@drizzellla, thanks! I am hoping for a fabulous baking trip!
You need to see an ortho asap. I work out a lot (or I did until this happened); and, while my knee seemed okay, it was just working on the TRX that did me in. Believe me when I say that is nothing compared to what I usually do, but it really can be something that seems insignificant that causes so much pain and trouble.

When my mother flies to see me, I arrange it for her. When I buy the plane ticket, there is a section for handicap. I click it and the questions get specific. I.e. do you need the wheel chair to the gate or to your seat, etc. It's scheduled through the airline. Go into your reservation and see if you can add it or call the airline and have them add it. It's free. I tell my mother to tip $5 if it's only a couple gates away, $10 if it's a long haul. Give what you can afford.

@GCR18, thanks! I can probably do that when I do online check-in tomorrow morning. When I made the reservations, this was not an issue.

The last time I flew my husband asked the stewardess on the plane if she could arrange a tramsport for me when we landed. When we landed there was a cart waiting for me. Never knew it was that easy.
