We do this every fall to check out colors, though this year is a couple of weeks behind in changing leaf color. We may miss the peak color, but plan on having fun anyway, as we haven't been anywhere since February. Just going for 5 days. If you know Michigan, we're crossing the Mackinaw Bridge, then spending a couple of days in Sault St Marie. Just love the St Locks! And I love my Big Mac Bridge!

@joannecha .... enjoy your trip!  Michigan is my home state so I love everything about it.  I'll be right behind you traveling soon to U.P. and Mackinac Island (won't make the Soo Locks but love seeing freighters) ...hoping Fall colors are at a peak for us!  Right now I see sunny weather ahead!  🤞 Safe travels!

Make sure to stop at Mackinac Island.  Or is it closed already for the season?  You must have been there many times already, in any case.

I was born in Michigan, and lived in the UP for 2 years when my Dad was stationed at the Air Force Base near Rudyard, a small town near Sault St. Marie.  The AFB is long gone now, the military turned the property over to the State of Michigan and it is now a Correctional Facility.

I also have relatives who live in St. Clair (not St. Clair Shores), which is near Detroit. So many happy memories of MIchigan.  Enjoy your trip!
